Anyone carry a compact .40?

No kiddin? I'm a Glock 23 owner and I think it's absolutely God's gift to gun owners. I would have actually thought the G27 would take more time and effort to shoot better. Anyway, I'd like to hear more about your experiences with the G27. I definitely would prefer that concealability.

I started with a G22, 2 years ago (I'm a late bloomer) and bought my G27 about 8 months later and my G23 a few months later. I was surprised to find that I consistently did better with the 27, than either of the others. In YouTube discussions turns out several others said the same thing.

After a lot of testing I found that with a 3 finger grip I tended to have more pressure at the bottom than at the top, essentially have a loose grip on the gun. I don't do it with the G27. So I've corrected that problem, but on any particular day the G27 wins.

Too many people think they want the subcompact then the first thing they do is buy a grip extension .. The G23 would be a much better choice if you don't like a 2 fingered grip. IMHO the length of the barrel has nothing to do with concealability, it's the size of the grip.

I shoot the m&p40c. the recoil is hardly anymore than the 9c. Also I like to think that with the flat base plate its the grip size of a g26 and the pinky extension is like a g19.

Do you find the slim base plate better than the one with an extension? Do you prefer it because it is easier to conceal than the one with finger extension or because you prefer the smaller grip?

I like that the flat base plate prints a little less, but in terms of shooting at the range, the finger extention is much easier to make groups.
Two fingers on the grip is a little hard to shoot for an extended period of time.

I do not have and have never shot a 9mm. I have shot a 44 Mag in a heave Rugar revolver, a old middle weight frame 38 w/200 gr bullets (kicked more than my 6" Python). After many years of not shoot a pistol I now have 1911's, both 4" & 5".

So, PLEASE, can someone conpare the felt recoil of the 40 S&W, from a CZ 75 Compact & CZ 75D (PCR), to the 1911 4" Commander-type 45 acp w/230 fmj rds.

I have a few cz's and love them. I'm trying to trade one of my cz p-01 9mm compact here on calguns. I know a few people that shoot sub compact berettas, m&p, and glocks in .40 and they seem to like them tho without some trigger work, it's hard to hit center mass from a distance. I think with 40s you like them or you can care less about them.. I think it's a good idea to have a gun in every calibre.. I'm more of a 9mm kind of guy if you ask me tho.

I vote for The Glock 23....Best all round performer in size & power...
I carry a Colt Mustang .380, a Glock 23 and a Sig P226R .40 ...If the I had to grab one in a hurry...Glock 23.
Something to think about recoil...You will only feel it in pratice, If the **** hits the fan you will never notice it...Pratice is the key....

I carry a Glock 27 w/ finger extender and LOVE it its small to pocket or inner holster and very light. Recoil has a little spice to it but very very managable . I also carry a 686+ 2.5in snubby but that stays on my ankle
