Anyone carry a compact .40?

So, PLEASE, can someone conpare the felt recoil of the 40 S&W, from a CZ 75 Compact & CZ 75D (PCR), to the 1911 4" Commander-type 45 acp w/230 fmj rds.

Closest I can come to that is a ParaOrdinance Warthog .45 vs a M&P 40c. The 40c is much, much easier to shoot with far less perceived recoil, IMO. The Warthog is uncomfortable to shoot a lot. The M&Pc isn't.

I carry the Glock 27 with Grip extension and have for many years. Great shooter, 100% reliable. I've got 10-8 rear sight w/.156 opening and a large XS front sight. Great flash sight picture!

Shield 40. Carry it because its thin and hides well. Recoil is snappy but controllable. Very comfortable in an mtac. Biggest problem for me is large hands on the thin grip messes with my finger placement in the trigger. Benefit of 40c is you're able to use fs mags. Friend sold me the shield because he wanted a g27 for that very reason.

i've done away with .40 altogether as i just don't like it. sold my sigma but i'll say this, my brother has a usp .40 compact and it is super-sweet. dead-nuts accurate, comfortable, and snag-free. that'd be what i went for if i wanted another .40. or a sig 229. i really don't like striker guns.

Recoil not bad at all with the steel frame

Very manageable. One of the main reasons I chose it. Handles recoil better than the larger G23 in my experience. I don't know if it's the density of the polymer or something, but the Glock leaves a ringing feeling in my hands, like using an aluminum baseball bat.

I started out with a 27, but then exactly as mentioned above, wanted the extension, realized I liked the holster fit better, so just went with the 23, hardly ever carry the 27 now.

Looking at carry guns and am used to a FS rather than compact.

Love my FS M&P but find that the .40c may be perfect for carry. So, my question is:

1. What make/model .40 do you carry?
2. Why did you choose that one?
3. How are you finding the recoil?
4. Any other suggestions?

I do not have and have never shot a 9mm. I have shot a 44 Mag in a heave Rugar revolver, a old middle weight frame 38 w/200 gr bullets (kicked more than my 6" Python). After many years of not shoot a pistol I now have 1911's, both 4" & 5".

I shoot .40 a lot, I do not find the recoil to be excessive. I am always surprised by people that say it is. I also own and shoot a lot of 9mm so I have a good idea of the two calibers recoil.
The thing that most people fail to realize is your target practice 9mm loads are know where near the recoil of your carry +P or +P+ rounds. You need to shoot a lot with your carry rounds in 9mm. A .40 training round is much closer to the real recoil of your .40 carry round.

I have carried a Glock 23 as my off-duty weapon for 20 years. However, I just purchased a Springfield XD subcompact 40 to carry in it's place now that I'm retired! The 23, though classified as a compact, is still a little too big and bulky to my liking with my new found freedom!

I carry a Sig P239 in 40 mostly when in suits and sport coats because I use a shoulder carry system.

When working i the dirt and dust I wear a glock 36 in 45.

Ok I'll be the first to post the Sig P229. Currently own the Enhanced Elite in 40sw. Also getting a CZ P-06 exact same as a P-01 but chambered in 40sw.

I carry the M&P 40c OWB in a open top holster. Conceals well under a light shirt. Depending on what I am wearing I sometimes use a flush 10 round magazine, but usually use a magazine with the finger extension. Shoots well, very manageable. Its only slightly heavier that the 9mm version.
