    Sig question

I have this one coming in soon, and it is labeled as a p226 .40. I find that believable, but the U in the serial is throwing me off. Thoughts?

I've got a couple of sig pistols starting with U including a 226 equinox and a 226 357 Sig. Nothing unusual about it.

Do you recognize this as a 226? Someone told me they thought it was a 229

And is it normal for a 226, if that is what it is, to have such a recessed trigger?

based on the serial number pictured, i'd guess that the handgun is a P226 manufactured between late 2004-late 2005.

                What is a recessed trigger?
                What is it recessed into?
The trigger looks normal to me, what did you expect it to look like?

Looks like a DAO P226 to me. 229's are shorter, and in my opinion ugly now that they have rails. Looked much cleaner without the rail.

Recessed trigger? What's that? Judging from the picture, I think you meant to say recessed HAMMER? As P5Ret said, it looks like a DAO P226 with the DAK trigger. From what I've seen of other Sigs with the DAK trigger, the hammer looks just like that.

Yeah, I believe that P5Ret called it ... Looks like a P226 DAK.

You Sig is a P226. Base on the look of the hammer, it is not a DA/SA. More likely a DAO or DAK trigger.
As for the "U", all P226 Frames that are made in Germany have a single U in their serial number. "UU" for US made Frame

That could be one of three things:
                            1) A normal DA/SA sig with a recessed hammer. It will have a decocker on the other side of the gun. Get a picture of the other side of the gun.
                            2) A DAK trigger Sig. Read up on these as they are interesting. It can be converted to DA/SA with some work.
                            3) A DAO Sig. These are quite rare, so it is unlikely to be this.

What is wrong with the "U"? Many firearms companies use both letters and numbers in their serials... P226s usually start with a "U"

let's not forget the NSW (Naval Special Warfare) prefix P226; limited edition manufactured in 2004.
