Doubt it. Didn't happen really after '08. People still tried selling their stuff for what they paid for it up until a couple days ago. Now they have a chance to recoup their money and maybe break even. Actually sitting on more money in both savings and checking than I've seen on the books in a loooong time.
Soon, after I pay the plumber, the concrete guy, and the BBQ Island guy, I will be very very broke again, but I'll be kickin' it in style by my new fire table.

Just a question: if you're NOT broke, do you have what financial advisors suggest, a savings of 6 months of living expenses?
Back in the 80's during one recession (yes, we've had quite a few in 30 years), a wise manager taught me what a layoff meant and to save 6 months of expenses (food, gas, utilities, rent/mortgage). I also learned credit cards just leads to unimaginable debt. So I got rid of 15 of my store credit cards, paid off my car, and just started saving. Then I bought a house with my new wife and we were broke AGAIN.
That was around 1989. I started saving again; I was laid off in 2001 and at that time, I had 12 months of expenses saved up. Didn't have a job for 8 months and it's never good when you see your savings begin to dry up! You just never know. 10 years have past since I was laid off and back at about 12 months and counting.
Having guns is fun but not at the expense of starving or letting things go to hell in a handbasket. Just keep a balance of cash for those hard times. 1/2+ of all the child support I receive goes straight back into the flights for my son's mother's visitation. I know the feeling, or I'd be rolling in stripped-lowers!
I just kind of have to wait for a 3 paycheck month to buy anything, but whenever I refinance the house, (27k will be saved "this refi" the next 30 years, but I have to start the 30 years over, yet again...) that helps me catch up too. Knowing that the ex-wife and hubby are stuck with with PMI, AND the fact that I actually receive child support does help out a bit around Christmas...
