    Gift to son

I'm going to give my youngest son my Sig Sauer P226 Scorpion for Xmas. Do I have to do any paper work to make this a legal transfer.

    Thanks

If he is at least 18 yrs old, yes, there is a paper to fill out. I don't have the link but someone with it will chime in soon I'm sure.

I looked into this a while back. It's surprisingly easy.

Do look into some training and indoctrination to accompany your gift as well, it'll make a nice complete package and maybe some pretty epic father-son time.

A caution - Dad, you are in California, right? If 'yes', then easy as suggested. Son fills out the paperwork, and he needs he Handgun Safety Certificate.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

            Thanks for the info

We're both in California and he has a HSC, is 34 years old and has bought a gun in the past. Based on the link it appears he has 30 days to fill out a DOJ form and mail to him. I'll just have to find the form.

            Thanks for the help.

You should be able to pay the doj $19 to grandfather it down to your son.

                Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I've been eye balling those for a while. Wish I had the money for one. Your son is a lucky man!

                            Correction.
It's the form your son needs.
Your son (person receiving) fills out and sends in the form, not you (person gifting).
