I have a 1982 Python just like it, has less than 200 rounds through it. If someone offered me $1000 for it I would laugh in their face.

That is an amazing deal for that gun. Probably worth 1500-2k depending on the gun. What a steal!

I'd put that in the safe and bring it out once in a while and stroke it

You got a steal! If you get tired of it, I'll give you$1200. Unfired ones go for over $2000 up here in northern California.

Nice score 4" nickels aren't easy to find imho.

See if he has the original grips; they're about a $300 deduct from the value of your Python without them. Obviously the original box would add value also so check on that too.

Not trying to thread jack, but here is a crazy, slightly relevant question fot you Python guys...I bought one that came with both the black rubber Colt grips (installed), and wooden colt grips. Is one grip set more "correct" than the other? Mine is a 4" blued.

You absolutely did great on the price, they are worth anywhere from 1500-1800 depending on condition and buyer..

Heres one of my 4" 1978 Python that I bought a while back for 500$! And I just got back from Hodge Rd a couple hours ago!
