    You should look into getting them each a CMP Service Grade M1 Garand, now, while they are still available and only ~ $650 delivered in a really nice hard-case to your door-step. (No FFL required)

    They are near-new and beautiful rifles, inspected by Armorers and backed by the CMP for customer satisfaction.

    Both my boys got one a few years ago, when they were 5 and 9, for future Marksmanship training and then HS Graduation presents.
