Whichever one will end up being more reliable. Guns, cars, women, etc, need to be ridden hard and put away wet, but they need to be good to go again the next day. With that in mind, I would go for the newer gun...

I think this poll does a great job separating the collectors from the shooters. Now I know nearly all collectors shoot most of their guns and nearly all shooters collect to a certain extent. I think this poll really does delineate that line in a great way. I chose the Normandy 1911. I love shooting guns and my 1911 but I would still choose the awesome collectors piece to the top of the line shooter.

(you can always buy the shooter next time )

All my guns are shooters and I don't go easy on them. Les Baers are better shooters so I voted for Les Baer.

I'm not a collector, or a 1911 guy, but without a doubt I'd take the Battle Scarred Normandy gun. Just out of pure respect for our military, and the men that have given their lives for this country. Not to mention those who have been wounded, disabled or have PTSD. That 1911 would be EXTREMELY rare & priceless. The last gun shop I went to had 5 Les Baers in the case. I could care less who built the Les Baer (given it was actually built by the company). If its a Les Baer, and it's a guaranteed 1.5" gun, who cares if Les built it or not?

I'll just keep the one I have. It needs no replacement.

I already have a Baer so I'll stick with that.

I would totally dig a beat up old 1911. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm a sucker for a good ole blued 1911. Especially if it's got some wear and tear on it. But, the practical side of me won't really agree with the mini-sights (eyes aren't quite WWII era, but you get the idea), the trigger or the hammer bite.

So, I voted for the Les Baer.

Never owned a 1911. I think the best first one would be a WWII battle tested one.
