I would imagine that a 1911 carried by a Marine storming Normandy would be one of the rarest 1911s ever, so my choice is made.

Why do you have the opportunity to own one of these? If so I'd go with Marine at Normandy pistol since its whole lot rarer than Les built pistol.

A working piece of WWII history please. Les Baer can make new guns from scratch anytime.

I'm a shooter, not a collector. I'll take a pistol that will function everytime I pull a trigger with modern ammo and not worry about it disintegrating in my hands or my children's hands or my children's children hands...etc

I voted for the Les Baer...I have one of his Premier IIs.

Got to be the WWII, 1911 it will be without a doubt the hardest to find 1911 ever.
Because there where no MARINES on Normandy.
What do they teach in school nowadays, apparently not U.S. history.

Now a 1911 carried by a U.S. Army soldier on Normandy, I'd take in a heart beat.

Depends, if it's some arsenal rebuild then I'll take the Baer.
If it's an all correct Singer or US&S I'll take the Marine's 1911A1

Since the Army invaded Normandy, not the Marines, I would take the custom, since it exists.

Marines handled the pacific campaign. Army had Europe campaign. But i'd take a 1911 held by a Marine any day.

I'm just a shallow male - I'll take the custom Les Baer. I guess given the chance to relish a WWII icon or have a hot babe (the custom Baer), I'm taking the hot babe.

Now the practical side of me says give me the Normandy gun, I'll sell it for 10K and buy 2 Baer customs.

I would rather have a peice of history from Normandy.

I don't recall the Marines ever hitting the beaches at Normandy. You have to remember that since 1942, the Marines were waging the island-hopping campaign in the Pacific, and the Army invaded France. No doubt there would have been Marines present at the invasion, but they would have simply been serving on the ships involved. Gun probably would be in decent condition too... Nice piece of history.

Baer makes nice guns, but I'd prefer a Jardine-era Valtro or something built full custom by him...
