It's quite a bit heavier and a little thicker than the G36, but it's a little shorter.

Like the single-stack .40 though... wish Glock made one.

I have been looking for a substitute and the 3.6" Bbl. P239 looks promising.
I've had a 239 forever and the longer I have it the more I love it.

      Thanks, C.

This is a good pt. that I generally overlook b/c I get my Glocks "blue-box." (3x13 rd. mags)

W/ 10 rd. mags? It would come down to whether or not I wanted a lite-rail.

The G36 is easier to shoot w/ std. pressure 230 gr. ammo than the G23 is w/ 180 gr..

They are ~ the same when you up the G36 to 230 gr. +P rounds (which I like in HST for tactical ammo b/c it give Std. 5" Bbl. performance out of the G36's 3.8" Bbl.)

      Like, have, and shoot both.

As much as I admire Hickok45, I think he is a little jaded on this one.

He is a shoot-out guy, more is always better.

He pimps the G23 and I agree w/ him, w/ 180 gr. ammo and 13 rd. mags it is a magnitude increase for a compact SD/HD pistol.

I'd take (and have) the G23 over the G30 in a heart-beat. Lighter/thinner/higher capacity mags.

But for a "shooting"? as opposed to a "shoot-out", and a lot of carrying until then?

The 7 round (6+1) G36 (and an extra mag or Two) really shines...

FBI sure seems to like .40 a lot. Me, I'll stick with .45. I agree with you that .40 in a Glock (and pretty much every gun I can think of) doesn't shoot as nice as .45. That said: If I had the ability to legally carry/use a full cap mag, the Glock .40's are hard to beat when it comes to firepower vs. size.

I prefer the 30 to the 36 but some people with smaller hands may disagree.

They seem to work, and the round-count is good for "shoot-outs."

Side Note for you G36 fans (or any Glock for that matter):

If you "One up" (Condition Zero) your Glock w/ a full mag, and also dry-fire a lot (which requires administratively loading and unloading a lot), here is a tip - Use the same round as your "One up" chamber round and leave the mag alone.

              - Safety-clear the weapon.
              - Lock back the slide.
              - Hand load the "One up" round into the chamber.
              - GENTLY release the slide onto the top of the round.
              - Pull the extractor out w/ your thumb or index finger until it jumps the cartridge base.
              - Push (if needed) on the back of the slide to lock the slide/Bbl. into battery.

Then insert the full mag and you are GTG.

This way, you don't repeatedly ram the same hollow-point into the feed-ramp resulting in either bullet deformation and possibly failure, or bullet set-back, resulting in "Ka-Boom".
