Does anybody ever use Mobil to lube their firearms?

Yes, and I use engine/cam assembly lube for break in!

I met a gentleman last night at the range that was having an issue on his DW CBOB. I happen to have the same gun and know it is built very tight. He picked it up, broke it down and used a "CLP" (cleaner - lube - protectant). He then had issues with the slide being "too tight" and locking up. I asked do you want a cleaner or lube? You can't have both. Slap on some grease and you will be good to go!

I have used Brake Kleen on my BCG. That's if i get around to actually cleaning my guns. My M9 is on about 2500 since its last cleaning, 6 months ago.

The slides on my XD and USP are stainless, I think they can handle Brake-Kleen. If someone puts a harsh chem on their poly frames, they deserve the damage!

I know there are many form of plastics, but the plastics on my Stihl saw hold up to Brake Kleen!

I use it on some things. Like most firearm C/L/P products, it smells...that's all

yea, well some people at the range looked at me like i was crazy when i said i use autozone brake parts cleaner and mobil 1 to clean and lube my guns....... no matter how you say it, its still just a carbon cleaner and metal lubricant

Got a quart of Mobil 1 I got a few years ago. Should last me another 20 years or so. One less thing to worry about buying.

interesting concept using motor oil to lube. is there a particular oil weight, 5w20, 5w30, 5w40, etc. to use? what about other brands like royal purple or penzoil? this could get out of hands really quick with the testing.
