    Finders fee?

Ok so out of desperation of my quest for a green 5.7 pistol I'm offering a finders fee. What do you think? Would this get you to look for a gun? Should I try more cash or does this sound fair?

Lol I wish it was that easy. It's needs to come from a LEO or someone that bought one from a LEO in Cali.

Nobody does a single shot exemption for the Five-seveN? Sorry, I kinda figured you had that part worked out.

        Black one and cerakote it?

P.S. -- if nobody does single shot exemptions, you can also buy one private party from somebody who had one prior to moving to CA and therefore was allowed to bring it in and register it in CA, or somebody who got it through intrafamiliar transfer (gift from an out-of-state child, parent, or grandparent). An exempt LEO having purchased one and then sold it used is another way you could come across one, but certainly not the only way.

Yeah I've been looking for a long time. I find them but I'm just too late.
With the plastic it's just not worth the paint. If it were a 1911 then I would just coat it and call it a day.

Good luck. In the last 90 days there has only been 4 listed on BG.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Thanks guys but Cali buyers cant buy those guns. It needs to come from a private party in Cali because of the roster law.

As mentioned, SSE might be your only alternative - a search of CGN shows that zero OD greens were listed for sale here. If you have patience, a friend with dual residency or any family members residing out of state may be able to help.

Valkyrie Arms might do SSE's on them. Call and ask them. If so, then you might be able to get it on gunbroker for cheaper, if and when it shows up. I believe it is possible to set up an automatic search agent on gunbroker, just like on ebay.

edit: some folks have been having communication issues with VA lately, caveat emptor

Of those 4 listed on GB only 3 sold. It might not hurt to contact the seller of the one that didn't sell and see if it's still available.

If it is buy it and have it sent to your favorite SSE dealer.

Problem is Ive only found one shop(VA) to do a SSE on them. Everyone else Ive asked says not enough profit in it for them.
I called VA again today and remember why it didnt work out last time. They dont answer the phone! I forgot all about it until the machine picked up,lol. Then it hit me The machine does say they are closed for inventory. But the last few times I called no one ever picked up.

There's a thread in general gun discussion where some folks are airing some unhappy experiences with VA, including their surprise closing for inventory. Anyways, hopefully it works out for you.

Depending on how far you want to go, you may have better luck finding a FFL that will allow you to install the SSE kit on the gun before starting DROS. They are far and few, but they exist - I remember one member here who would single action exempt off roster S&W revolvers by doing the work himself. You'd have to provide the SSE kit yourself in that case.

If money is not an object, there's the expense of finding a dummy barrel to get an extension welded onto (EFK makes aftermarket 5.7 barrels, so it may be possible to ask them for an unrifled and unfinished barrel), as well as fabricating a magazine/breech block (the one I remember using for my 1911 just consisted of some plastic parts held together with an allen screw).

Idea is, once you score the gun, you should have enough time to come up with some SSE parts.
