My sentiments exactly. I just wish Bill Ruger wasn't such a jerk.
He's dead and his son retired from the company.

It'll end up being a gun you'll never sell so make sure you get every feature you want on it now. Bought mine about 12 years ago and it's at the core of my "lifetime" collection. I've also had Buckmarks and Smiths and they're now gone.

As to the detractors, Bill Ruger may not have shared your politics but no intelligent person can doubt the significance of his contributions to the firearms world. Beyond that I guarantee you he provided more funds and support to the NRA than every member of CalGuns combined will give in their entire lifetimes.

I love my Ruger MKII.. its' the first gun our family has ever owned.. It's in my posession now and like someone said, it's gonna be a keeper.

The thing is easily 16 years old, if not older.. Now that I have some more funds laying about, Im going to have it sent to Ruger to have it's health "checked" out.. but in the meantime, does anyone know where there are any good deals on one? 5.5 bull barrel stainless is MKII is what Im looking to get.. that or a slabside..

There are a lot of MKII's in the pipeline, but if you want a new one you should get it fairly soon as they are no longer being made due to the MKIII coming out. I'm in the same boat as I'd like to get another one as a dedicated scope gun.

I'd agree with that. Whatever people think of Bill Ruger, there's no doubt that he was one of the top 10 firearm designers in the second half of the 20th century, and maybe in the entire century.

I'm not real up on designers, I can barely come up with 10 if that. Too bad designers don't get a better reputation unless they own gun companies.
