I hear alot of good things about the new Shield .40 also.

M&P shield is a great gun. I was on the waiting list over 4 months for it.

I just started the dros on my shield .40. I got lucky and ordered one from kygunco and shipped it to sacramento firearms transfer to do the SSE.

I wanted a non-CA version because I don't like having a magazine disconnect and a giant loaded chamber indicator.

Have any of you 40 Shield owners had any mag drop problems? I've heard that more than a few have had problems with the mag dropping out after firing. I want one too, but now I'm leary.

              Is yours the 9mm or .40 S&W?

I'm very curious how the .40 caliber Shield handles recoil. I found the larger Glock 23 a bit sharp so I wonder how the Shield manages.

My own .40 is a Glock 23C, which is the compensated variant. Much nicer than the Glock 23 when it comes to recoil management.

                Very interesting.

So my bday is today and I want to get a handgun small enough to very effectively conceal. I dont have a ccw and will not be carrying in cali, so i guess i have no practical purpose for the purchase other than i want it. Has anyone shot a 40 M&P shield? Does the shield have the same "bad" (I say it like that since that's the main complaint I hear) as the mainline M&Ps?
                Nice choice.

On paper at least, the .40 caliber Shield may be the best CCW yet.

The Springfield-Armory XD-S in .45 ACP is another fascinating CCW option, but not likely to ever be available for sale in Commiefornia (no magazine safety).

With a huge selection of handguns and rifles, Springfield Armory is the premier manufacturer of quality firearms for concealed carry, home defense, hunting and competitive shooting.

Honestly, the Glock style trigger system makes me really nervous about safe concealed carry with a round in the chamber. I like the fact the Shield provides the option of a manual safety.
