    Steyr SPP Transfer

Yes, I know this has been discussed before. I did use the "search" function and read a couple dozen threads, but still did not determine if anyone was having problems doing PPT on a Steyr SPP.

Is DOJ, or FFLs, considering it to have a threaded barrel? I've looked at one and it's actually the barrel housing that is threaded, not the barrel itself. Also, as far as the front piece being a shroud, any definitive answer? The guns is clearly designed to be gripped by the second hand just ahead of the trigger guard, not by that shroud looking thingy. I guess you could grip it there, but not for more than a couple of rounds.

    So what say you all???

Even if its not the barrel that is threaded it may still run into trouble because DOJ could rule that it has a barrel shroud.

The SPP is one of those gray area things that is just best to stay away from.

Very cool pistol none the less..

    12276.1.
    (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
    (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
    (B) A second handgrip.
    (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.

I'm not real familiar with this gun.

But if you look at this picture and if what you say is true; about the "barrel housing".

I would agree with 47; if you look at how and where you can grip this pistol I do believe it would violate provision "C" posted by 47.

      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

        FUD. No gray area here.

Yeah, it's just a semi-automatic pistol. Go nuts.

I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record: zero.

You do know there are more guns in the country than there are in the city.

            1. All firearms are ALWAYS loaded.
            2. Don't point the muzzle at anything you're not willing to destroy.
            3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you're on the target and ready to shoot.
            4. Be sure of your target and backstop.
