I don't know much about revolvers. But you need to clarify "inexpensive" There is hi-points that are cheap. But my sigma ($300 or so) runs like a freakin' champ. It is available in 9mm and .40. I buried mine in dirt, Banged it etc. Never missed a beat.

Sounds like a hi-point or one of them Jennings/Bryco arms el cheapo pistols to me.

Or, last year Turners' Black Friday door-buster gun was a Taurus M85 for $219. If they have anything like that again then that may interest you also.

I'm assuming this is a stash gun in case of emergency. In an emergency, I wouldn't put much stock in a 200.00 gun. And I don't think you need to worry about magazine springs.
From what I understand they don't weaken from being compressed for long periods, they can weaken through constant expansion and contraction.
I'd buy a used Glock for a bit more. More rounds, always functions, can stash it in the freezer or the toilet tank and it'll still come out functioning for crissakes.
Ok, I'm exaggerating a little, but you get my drift.
Oh, and get a large grumpy dog and 99.99% of the time you won't have to worry about a stash gun..

Your best bet is a used gun, something like a Ruger 95 or a well used revolver. But i agree with Uhlans advice above, don't expect much for <200. Now bump that figure up to 400 and you're options triple.

Turners has p64s in stock right now. A bit over $200, but a solid option if you dont mind a common Russian caliber.

Rock Island Armory 1911 in .45ACP. I liked it so much I almost bought one yesterday, a value at $399 but bought a Baretta 92FS instead because the RIA .45 GI was as basic as you could get and it was too plain-jane for me. This is not a Colt, Kimber, or Les Paul/Bear (whatever it's called) but what little research I've done reveals many happy, proud owners of this low cost, entry-level 1911. Some have even said that their cheap-o RIA is just as accurate as 1911's costing three times as much. What's your price range? For about $460 you can get their .45 ACP with better sights, a beavertail, etc. I'm told to not worry about magazine springs-spring wear out from contraction and compression, not from being compressed.

If you're worried about not being able to get to your safe, the solution is simple. When you're home, have your safe open/unlocked with a gun that's ready to go at all times. When you leave, lock everything up. Doing that won't cost you anything either...
