I have an FNP-40 and a CZ SP01 9mm. Both excellent to shoot but the build quality of the CZ is a lot better in my opinion.

I'll try to fit both my brothers and cousin into a schedule so they can both try the pistol of their choice and my SA loaded.

No joke, my 75b was my first gun (after months of research) and now I'm buying a P-01. Steel guns all the way, they feel so much more balanced and beefy (tuperware guns, lol).

Good quality at a good price, and their ergos seem to fit a lot of people. They're very accurate, too. My first non-.22 handgun was a CZ-75b, and taking it to the range, I thought, "Wow, if I can shoot this good with a $350 gun, then imagine how good I'll be with a more expensive one!!!" This was around 12 years ago when one of the attractions of the CZ was that they were still under the radar and underpriced. I bought one because that was all I could afford back then. The sigs, Glocks, berettas, and other guns I coveted were usually quite a bit more than the CZ.

So my thinking was, "I'll settle for this gun for now, then buy the ones I want later when I can afford them." Well - after a long wander in the wilderness of Glock, Beretta, Sig Sauer, and even 1911s, I came back home to CZ.
                "Two dead?!? HOW?!?"
[sigh] "Bullets, mortar fire, heavy artillery salvos, terminal syphilis, bad luck --- the usual things, Captain."

I don't have an SA loaded but I do have a ruger Sr1911 and had a 9mm RIA 1911 Tactical. By leaps and bounds I prefer my CZ Shadow 75 Single Action. Better trigger and better ergos to me.

Really though, if you want to understand it, go shoot a CZ.

Check Triple a in Vallejo, or J and R in livermore.

Is there anything similar, but made in the States?

If you'd ever held one, you wouldn't have to ask that question.

It's all hype like back then Sigs were all the rage, then Glocks were all the rage, and now CZ are it. JK. Go shoot all of them and get what you like. I own a Sig stainless with E2 grips and SRT, shot friend's SP-01, meh, nice gun but not as refined as my Sig imo. But for the $, great buy.

Sorry to say this, but that is what makes CZ great, it's not made in USA!
