Yes, FUCD (confusion, for those that are wondering).

So I go to the range last night (don't ask which indoor range in OC it was).

The guy at the counter wants to check my ammo - of course. No problem. Can't have that evil steel stuff at an indoor rage. So I open up my "range bag" (really just a repurposed briefcase/messenger bag thing). In it are my loaded magazines and some more ammo in the box.

Dude says... "Hold on a minute. You law enforcement?"
Me: "no"
Dude: "this is illegal." (here comes the good part) "It's technically a loaded gun."
Me: "uhh.. no. it's not. The unloaded gun is in this other locked case - see? You really should read up on the law before you say stuff like that to people."
Dude: "well, it depends on the cop that pulls you over. We had a guy here lose all his stuff for doing just this."
Me: "yea, okay -well... okay, which lane am I on?"
dude: "you never know, man - cops are just stupid."
me: "Right. The cops are stupid. Which lane?"

It's nuts just how screwed up people really are on this topic. Last time I was at this same range the guy told me I was illegally transporting my guns because my car doesn't have a trunk. Not kidding. I am now convinced that anybody - seriously, anybody - can work at a gun shop or range.

When open carry was still in efect there was a debate that unless theres an empty magazine in the gun, it could be considered loaded if the magazines are loaded. The wisdom being that the magazine is an essential part of the gun and therefore constitutes part of the gun itself.

Retarded, i know. Sometimes i think people that work at ranges are on some bizarre power trip and get off on playing the bigshot or something.

Man oh man, OC Indoor Range.. there are a few cool guys there but the rest are complete idiots and/or just plain rude.

My last visit there, I showed up 15 minutes before their cut-off time. A dude in his late 40's was cleaning and said "Sorry, we're closed."
Me: "I still have 15 minutes, just want to shoot for 30-45 minutes or so."
Him: "I said we're closed, don't know what part of that you don't understand."

At this point I was FURIOUS. Of course, a shooting range is probably the worst place to get in a heated argument, so I politely turned around and left.

Was an annual membership holder at this range and needless to say, I will never be returning to this place ever again. I'd rather drive a little farther and visit Field Time in Stanton. At least their facility doesn't look like the set of SAW III.

Yea, I've been getting pretty frustrated with this place. They "close" early pretty regularly. I've come to a point where if I'm cutting it close to their 1-hour rule (within 20 minutes) I just don't go. There's a 50-50 chance of being able to get in.

I've been Field Time a few times. Similar FUCD there, too... but wow, what a nice place. The RO's are very friendly and helpful. Rules are very relaxed compared to other places (in reference to what you're allowed to shoot and what you're not). As soon as our OC Indoor memberships expire we'll be moving over to Field Time. The bummer is that OC Indoor is so close to my house it's just ridiculously convenient. Field Time is close to my office, which is nice... but having to go home after work and come all the way back out there again sucks. Hmmm... talk about 1st world problems....

Hey, some guys that work counters are very qualified, intelligent, handsome, capable, knowledgeable and quite helpful. Do you always look down your nose at retail help?
Your "Dude" did seem a bit dense and this happens. It is a reflection of management my friend. We all have our station in life. Maybe the "dude" is really good at something. In this case the old saying goes:
