My defensive pistol has 10-8 Redback One sights and a Surefire X300. The sights are a black rear with tritium front. I'm not a fan of tritium sights front and rear personally, but that is personal preference.

What are planning to do play handgun sniper and shoot a cigarette out of someone's mouth at 50yds? I've been shooting with night sight equipped handguns for 20 years years and trust me they (and the "fat front blade") aren't a handicap. As far as I'm concerned at home defense ranges night sights are the way to go, but it's a free country and you have every right to go into a gunfight with as many handicaps as you like if that's your thing.

Plus it isn't exactly legal to smoke someone just for being in your yard, but I'm sure you know that.
The point is speed, instead of squinting at the plain iron sights trying to get the sight picture night sight sights allow you to get on target faster once you identify your target in minimal light.

That is why many night sight manufacturers are going to a plain back sight. For a wide range of users, they are faster with the front night sight only.

Some shooters like that system, some like dot over dot, some prefer to line up 3 dots.

You're new to firearms correct? Maybe get some formal training, read up some articles from Subject Matter Experts before posting such broad nonsense.

Agreed, but I'm talking about timed drills from a draw until first shot placed on target. Turns out the competition shooters were on to something. Instead of a fiber optic front sight though, its a tritium bead.

I don't think you are concerned far enough, friend. Have you shot anything non night sight in those 20 long years that you can compare your night sights against? However with all due respect, if you've been shooting for 20 years, you are certainly older than I, so it's understandable that your eyes may be going to sh*t, so it makes sense that night sights would work better for ya. I think it's reasonable to say that night sights are a good substitute for a handicap shooters.

Incorrect. I just go shoot too much to have 5,000+ posts yet.

I dont know about you, but I don't speed shoot anything @ 25yds, especially a target in the dark that may or may not be a threat. If it's within 7-10yds, I can index/point shoot extremely well, so sights are almost unnecessary at that range.

Rifle, red dot, light. Problem solved.

To OP- if its an HD gun just save up and buy night sights if you want sights that glow.

What's funny is that you average 2.6 posts per day and I average 2.08, so if you were here as long as I am you'd have more posts smart guy.

Even if you did blow ammo everyday it doesn't seem like you've learned much from your posts.

                                Meh. Laser is the answer.

Honestly, I don't know what is the most effective way but I have all options for my nightstand. Light mounted on a rail, internal red laser and night sight. All available just in case I need it.
