Well i dont think you will get a G17 out the door for less than $500 unless you get a used one maybe. but if your on a budget between 3-5 id say try the Sig Sauer SP2022 in 9mm. ive heard they go from $409 and maybe just a little under and ive seen alot of reviews on them and they seem to be pretty positive. i have one in .40 and i love it.

I was just at Sierra Arms in Modesto and they had a Glock 17 for $519 I think. You'll be able to get out the door under $600. You may be able to get them to throw in a free mag, also. A guy was in there today taking his HSC test and buying a Kahr for concealed carry. They ended up throwing in a free mag because they didn't have the size he wanted. I think he wanted a 9 round mag and Kahr only makes 7?

Plus, the girl behind the counter will get you to buy anything under the glass.


Anywho, OP, there's nothing wrong with buying a handgun at 21. Yea, you could wait, but if you have the financial means, there's no reason not to. If you're going to give up lunch for a month to get a handgun, you know you've got the fever. Hahaha.

Any input for other potential guns to try (Please DO include other calibers (45, .40, etc), as long as they are reasonably priced). I'm looking in the $300-$500 range (out the door) for the gun, and I would definitely consider buying used, assuming the model has a good track record.

I've owned a few of the popular 9mms, and I've shot most of them. Owned an XD9, glock 17, 1911 in 9mm, and I've given the sig 226, beretta 92fs, s&w m&p their fair shakes. Those pistols or variations of those pistols are among the most popular 9MM choices.

I've sold the xd9, glock 17, and 1911 and all i own now are CZs. Do yourself a favor and shoot a CZ 75b, SP01, or 75 SA. In my experience, they are by leaps and bounds the best all around 9mm. Most favorable ergos, higher than average accuracy, excellent triggers after some work. There's a reason they are popular with competition shooters.
