I saw the same thing happening with someone elses same gun at the range. He asked if I wanted his brass and I respectfully declined

Thats not bad ammo, thats a bad chamber. It should not be splitting down the middle like that. the chamber should be supporting the case wall to prevent that. I would not shoot it again until fixed. I hear Hi-point has a no BS warranty on their pistols. Send it back to them along with a few cracked cases and I'm sure they will make it right.Comment

So I wonder why it just now started doing this with this box of ammo? What can go bad in the chamber? These rounds were two-three mags apart.Originally posted by MunkThis is akin to saying that the silver lining of being raped is, "hey, at least you're getting laid."Comment

Pull the barrel and inspect the chamber with a bright light. It might be somewhat bigger than the factory planned.
There may be a big hairy crack in the end closest to your fingers.
Don't shoot it again until it has been checked by somebody that doesn't smell like Old English. It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.Comment

I had this happen with some older Fiocchi ammo in my glock that someone gave me a while back. I contacted Fiocchi and they sent me 10 boxes of new ammo and did not have any issues with it in the same gun. Not to say your in the same situation but my brass looked exactly the same as mine did.Marin County - Glock Armorer

The barrel is pinned to the frame in the CF380, you cant remove it.Pull the barrel and inspect the chamber with a bright light. It might be somewhat bigger than the factory planned.

As others have said DONT SHOT IT AGAIN! I hate to say it, but it looks like that should have been a KABOOM, that hipoint might have saved your hand. Send it back to hipoint they will tell you what went wrong, just send them some casings also. I would remove the slide and inspect the barrel to see if there are any bulges or bumps.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

I took the 380 Hi Point out with me when I went to try out my my Ruger SR22 and the new to me Mosin M44. I just could not understand how a gun could be fine and then suddenly start splitting casings right after I opened up a new box of ammo.
I had a couple of the Remmington mega packs that I picked up from Eat Dirt so I loaded up a few mags. Zero problems. I reloaded the mags - zero problems. Throughout the day I put the crappy pistol in heavy rotation while I shot the other guns I brought. Before long I discovered I had gone through all 100 rounds I had brought with me.
Monday morning I will call Winchester with the lot number from the box and see if they have had any other complaints.Originally posted by MunkThis is akin to saying that the silver lining of being raped is, "hey, at least you're getting laid."Comment
