First range report with my Glock17

If all you did was polish I'm sure its just assembled wrong. Don't feel bad about modding right out of the starting gate, thats how I learn too. My last 3 pistol and 4 rifles were all heavily modified before firing a single shot but I've done a lot of gun smithing over the years and feel i have a good grasp on what I want and what I'm doing. I've made my share of mistakes and have the midway receipts to prove it. As long as you are safe about your modifications I see no reason not to try stuff.

Few safety tips:
1. Never load more than 2 rounds in your gun while testing. One in the chamber, one in the mag. Full auto has happened to people and some were even killed.
2. Never load your gun anywhere other than the range, keep it pointing down range until you have fully tested that it is safe to fire and keep loaded.
3. Only modify one part at a time. Changing too many parts can keep you guessing on where the mistake was made. (this tip does not really relate to your mod but its a good nugget)
3. Have a good pair of leather gloves on while testing just in case. You came with 10, leave with 10

Well... I know now to first shoot it... haha I usually have to learn the hard way... and I used my dremel on low setting with a polishing wheel with brasso metal polish. It came out really shiny... and I'm pretty sure I assembled it right but we'll see gotta wait till this next weekend to find out if I put it together wrong or what...

Unless you removed significant amounts of metal somehow it's either defective from the factory or you reassembled wrong.

As other have said, disassemble and reassemble carefully. Make sure you have no binding springs etc and everything moves freely as you reassemble, also remember to apply a very light coat of lube to contact surfaces.

Firing pin block or connector might not be seated properly. Check detail strip assembly vids on youtube.

Make sure the cruciform (cross like part on the trigger bar) is properly seated in the trigger housing. The connector and trigger bar may be misaligned causing function issues.the first time I did mine I fought with the spring in the housing. Look online for pictures for a trigger job,worth a grand. To check before range time dry press the trigger and rack the slide wile the trigger is still depressed, check reset,repeat over and over. Then range check with 1 or 2 rounds at a time...

Put a small amount of Tesler on the cruciform or some other high end grease and cycle and dry fire about 20 times to get the grease down in there. Which you burned off with your Dremel.

So I went to shoot my Glock 17 today after just getting it. I did the .25 cent trigger job on it and I think that is what is causing my problems. The trigger is getting really hard to pull right before it shoots. Sometimes it will shoot normal but from time to time the trigger will almost seem to not go any further. (dry firing and with ammo)... I took the slide off and the trigger bar seems to stick on the disconnect... any ideas? Thanks.

Honestly it doesn't even sound like anything is wrong with his Glock.. Maybe he's just describing the trigger wall. How do you reassemble a Glock incorrectly..? Anyways, I'd stay away from anymore YouTube glock mod videos

It is easy to reassemble it wrong. When the trigger housing goes back into the frame the connector and trigger bar need to be in alignment. It will bind or cause a dead trigger.Polishing a trigger hardly classifies as a mod.

.25 trigger job was night and day on one of mine. Damn thing was so gritty out of the box and after 1k rounds.
