First range report with my Glock17

So I went to shoot my Glock 17 today after just getting it. I did the .25 cent trigger job on it and I think that is what is causing my problems. The trigger is getting really hard to pull right before it shoots. Sometimes it will shoot normal but from time to time the trigger will almost seem to not go any further. (dry firing and with ammo)... I took the slide off and the trigger bar seems to stick on the disconnect... any ideas? Thanks.

Don't know what you did, but you do need to lube the interface between the connector and trigger bar cruciform.

Did you remove the firing pin block? If you did, check the fire pin block spring. It may not seated properly.

It's a Glock that's why throw it away and get a real gun like a 1911..


On a serious note I'd disassemble it again and have someone who knows what they are doing take a look.. I'm not that familiar with the Glock trigger system accept putting it back together while watching a assembly video and pressing the dam thing.. But it sounds like either something isnt put back right or it's out of spec..

Reason everyone should shoot their guns before doing stuff to them because now you don't know if it's from the factory or if you did this.

Well... Learn as I go right? It's home right now... got school so I won't really be able to get to it till the weekend. By the way the disconnector seems off... isn't it supposed to sit flat against the trigger housing?

Strip it down again and start over reinstall the parts making sure all is good. I've done a handful of $.25 trigger jobs and only problem I ran into was one with a slight difficulty in installing the top end if the firing pin safety wasn't reset. A quick polish of the tab that engages that fixed it. I use grease with the contact points.

Good Question, I recently installed a Ghost 3.5 Connector it isn't flat against my trigger housing. Sits slightly out at an angle, I did not attempt to bend it straight because it works fantastic at the moment.

If I can Recall correctly, my stock connector was flushed with the housing.

It is NOT supposed to be flush with the housing! That angle is there on purpose. OP, how did you do the trigger job? I just use Flintz (sp?) and a few wooden q-tips. You didnt use a dremel did you? Would love to see pix.

This is the 2nd post in the last few days where someone did modifications before ever firing a new gun and now it doesn't work right.

Now they don't know if they did the mod wrong, damaged something disassembling/reassembling, reassembled it wrong, or if it was defective right out of the box.

And if it's defective out of the box, but the mfg can detect you were grinding ("polishing") on the parts, they have every right to say you have voided the warranty.

Clean it, inspect it, lube it and fire a couple thousand rounds. Then you can decide if you want to tweak it.

.25 trigger job. sounds like you got what you paid for
leaving the pistol all original is best but if you feel you must modify it buy a kit and fallow the instructions or have a smith do the work

Seriously tho you probably just put it together wrong.. You didn't take an metal off right? Just polished the parts with a polish and soft tip right?

When you polished the firing pin did you remove it or leave it assembled? That stuf says not to let it dry... i have done the. 25 cent t j on a fiew Glocks with a dremil on low. Even if you ran the wheel against the sharp edge of the sear it would have a hard time staying engager not disengaging. Take it apart and reassemble it.never wirk on a unfired weapon.

Well... I know now to first shoot it... haha I usually have to learn the hard way... and I used my dremel on low setting with a polishing wheel with brasso metal polish. It came out really shiny... and I'm pretty sure I assembled it right but we'll see gotta wait till this next weekend to find out if I put it together wrong or what...
