    Beretta 92A1 - I had no Idea

So if you've followed any of my post you know I really never liked the looks of the Beretta 92 series gun and thought it to be more of a cheap Army gun. But after years of looking past the Berretta, I decided to purchase a 92A1 as I thought it would something different to add to my small collection.

Here are some of upgrades to the 92 platform that can be found in the A1, these changes came about in 2010 and were inspired by the 90-Two model:
    1. Removable front sight
    2. Higher Capacity 17 round magazines (includes 3 mags, not the typical 2)
    3. Internal recoil buffer
    4. Captive recoil spring assembly (Glock Gen 4, anyone)
    5. Rounded trigger guard
    6. Auto locking slide lever

I went from not liking the looks to enjoying how different this weapons is compared to many of the others out there. The big surprise came when I shot this weapon. It's very accurate, pleasant to shoot with the least recoil of any 9mm I've ever shot. First blush tells me it's even more accurate then a CZ SP-01 and that's saying a lot. I believe it has to do with the design which has a barrel the remains straight and never cams.

I'm so glad I purchased this gun. I think it may be my favorite 9mm thus far. For those of you that are wanting to purchase a CZ and you're having trouble locating one, I'd suggest you purchase a Berretta 92A1 first, if you don't already have one. It's that good of a weapon. I can't speak of any of the other models. FS, M9, 90-Two. But if it's anything like the 92A1, it's a shooter of the highest quality.

I plan on doing a full 9mm comparison test between the BHP, Beretta 92 and the CZ SP-01 as soon as time allows. It will include photos, observations and My best of class choice.

    Stay tuned,

    Triple

I've always disliked them too. Maybe one day it'll click and I'll see it too...maybe.

        Congrats on the new pistol.

Curious, is the recoil spring assembly reverse compatible with older 92 models?

It always surprises me how many people dismiss the 92. But I'm not a "fanboy" by any definition, and am content to let others choose what they do and don't buy. Of course, if someone asks, I'll provide an opinion. That being that the 92 is a fantastic all around gun. YMMV.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

What makes the recoil spring comparable to a gen4? Unless its dual? The gen3's are captive too. Anyways, wish my 92 had a removable front sight.. I need to replace the night sights!

I recently shot a 96a1 and the ergonomics, sight picture, and accuracy surprised me. I shot better groups than I have with any other handgun. It's definitely on my list but I would get the 92a1 because I prefer 9mm.

I love my 92A1. I have had it for about a year now and have put at least 6k rounds through it without a hiccup. I even used it in Action Pistol competitions for my first 6 months and surprised a lot of people that a box-stock Beretta can be competitive in a match environment.
