Tri-burst. Oh yeah... bringing back the childhood memories of movies long past.

What's with those new pictures? Looks the same as Batman now.

The trigger guard is long. It's also on a gun that was modified to be extremely long in order to look proportionate in his gigantic gloved hand. The angle of the interior section of the trigger guard IS the 93r shape. The gun model has been confirmed on every robocop information website out there. Why make a heavily modified 92 for the movie, but build an entirely different firearm for all of the replicas, airsofts, and informational websites?

Dude, are you not realizing how bulky the gloves are that he's wearing? The trigger guard in those pics IS long, with his finger on the trigger, wearing the silly robot glove. Look closely at the pic where he's not looking in the direction he's firing. The trigger guard is at least an inch past his finger.

The only reason the trigger guard may look short in the pic where it's just his arm and hand holding the gun, is because his trigger finger is slightly extended instead of being square against the trigger(and the light you're seeing is shining against the glove from the other side of the gun) because he isn't pulling it.

Go find some huge snow gloves, put them on, and dryfire a handgun, you'll figure out real quick just how small trigger guards usually are.

              From IMFDB:

The main weapon used by RoboCop (Peter Weller) is the "Auto 9". This is a Beretta 93R machine pistol which was heavily modified for the film, featuring a longer barrel with an enormous compensator/flash hider shaped like a casket, plastic grips, and a taller rear sight to match the raised front sight. Typically, RoboCop fires this weapon in 3-round burst mode. The fictional stats of the weapon claim it has an implausibly huge 50-round magazine.

Lol its possible.... I could be wrong

I still get a very 92 vibe though

There are only something like six 93r's in the usa though so a modified 92 does make sense....

                Possible they used both?

Is that clear enough for you?

Yes, in some shots in some movies they use totally fake rubber prop guns and such, that may look slightly different, but the ones shooting blanks aren't rubber prop guns.

For example, Judge Dredd had a beretta 92 with a bunch of plastic bolted onto it with multiple prop guns and a couple specially built with radio controlled moving parts and lights for various scenes. You can tell it's not the same gun used in robocop, because of the trigger guard.

I'd still rather have that rusty 1911 of yours.

Two 93R's were imported especially for the movie. I remember seeing it somewhere where the creator of the gun alluded to the fact they couldn't get one and had to import 2 for the movie. They were blank fire adapted.

Ask Brandon Lee if they use real guns in the movies.

Umm that first pic looks more like a bad guy from cobra from gi joe other than robocop.

Ok ok Ill settle this, in set for firing scenes we uses either half (or lower) charges or other items known as "non guns" which use an electrical charge to "fire" the non gun and make it look like its firing. When it's a fully automatic weapon 99% of the time there Half or quarter load blanks handled From a prop armorer.
Otherwise yes it's either rubber guns or airsoft guns that have the orange off of it.
