Yes, you can SSE them. I got one a month ago.

Yep, can be SSE'd. I think they aren't legal here because they lack a magazine disconnect? I read that online somewhere, not entirely sure where now...

I asked at Black Rifle and was told they were changed too much from Gen 3 so they are not considered a gen change but an entirely new gun. Glock has not paid to get them DOJ tested and approved. So law enforcement only.

Maybe both stories are true, maybe neither. I am not sure.

Does Gen 4 17 or 19 have less recoil than gen 3s? Some say yes and others are saying really can't feel the difference.

I can not tell the difference. The 17 is a pretty soft shooter as it is. For me the reason I like the gen 4's is the better grip.

Thanks for the response, if there is no difference in recoil I will keep my gen 3.

I rented a gen 3 at the gun range and purchased the gen 4. Gen 4 has less recoil.

I had heard that Glock just isn't going to bother taking the Gen4 to DOJ. But will probably do the next generation when ever that is.

Does anyone know this for sure one way or the other? Doesn't matter too much .. will be a long time before my Gen 3s wear out

From the stories and statements from Glock that I've read from Google, they refuse to put any extra safeties in their guns (the kind that California demands), so they have no plans at all to modify the Gen4 for California. The Gen3 sells well enough here anyway.

That being said, I find holding the Gen4 much better than the Gen3.
And on the third day, God created the Remington bolt-action rifle so that man could fight the dinosaurs. And the homosexuals.

The way I look at it is the Gen 4 is worth the extra cost of SSE because the way it comes from the factory. It's a perfect fit not as pronounced of a hump and the texture is perfect. If Glock would just get rid of the finger humps it would be absolutely perfect.

I just thought I'd add that you might want to check out the 2A forum and read some of the stickies. There are a lot of smart guys in there that are fighting for our rights. Since I'm not a lawyer and don't have time to volunteer I make small monthly donations to the Calguns Foundation.

Since you're in santa clara county, you can SSE them from valkyrie arms. Thats where I got mine a while back.
