Different barrel may not be uspsa legal.... I think

That's my understanding from going through the rules the other night.
One of the restrictions on "Production" are that the barrel has to be the same length and caliber as the gun was original manufactured. Otherwise you have to compete in one of the higher modified classes.

The barrel swapping is the part that gets you? It takes 20 seconds if you're really slow. That's what? half a magazine's worth of shooting time you're losing?

It's the whole process of having several calibers in the same gun and running the risk of shooting a spring down the range or something.

When I had 40sw and 357sig for a P226.. I caught my friend just in time to not load up a mag full of 40sw with the 357sig barrel.

Gee, wouldn't it be nice if someone started a thread about which handgun caliber was better! Maybe call it 'Caliber Wars' or something catchy.

Oh yeah, there's about 15,000 of them and no one ever agrees with anyone except that one of them, 9mm .40 cal or .45 cal, is the best. Beyond that, it's just a matter of opinion and preference.

I have a Glock 35 and bought a 9mm conversion barrel. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get the Glock 34.

For me I just ended up paying more money with the conversion route. $100 plus for the conversion barrel and had to buy 9mm magazines and since I was taking pistol courses, I bought about six 9mm magazines. I also ended up buying two bore snake sizes, .40 and 9mm.

Currently I have the stock .40 cal barrel in my Glock 35 with self-defense ammo. Whenever I go to the range I put in the 9mm conversion barrel. I always have to be aware of the barrel thats in my Glock, the ammo, and the magazines. Twice already I left the stock .40 cal barrel and shot 9mm rounds though it. It fired once or twice then malfunctioned. Luckily the stock barrel didn't suffer any damage.

The only reason why I went with a .40 was because I was told 9mm was getting harder to get. Now I don't hate .40 but since I do a lot of shooting, the 9mm just seemed more economical. Thus my second Glock was a G17.

Now if you can afford it, then do it. There can be advantages such as if SHTF and there are only 9mm ammo available, then you can switch to the 9mm barrel but you better have 9mm mags ready.

I bought a G35 recently... loving it. Also got a complete G17 top-end for it ($200 unfired) so I can just swap whenever I want. The ejector works just fine on the 9mm, no mods necessary.

That is a damn good price. I was thinking about buying one but Glockstore sells them for over $400.00. For that price I might as buy another Glock.

If it were me, what I'd do is, get a second G35 and use it as 9mm only, since swapping back and forth between calibers and changing out the barrel for one gun can be a hassle, esp. at the range.

An idea to differentiate between the two guns (a .40 G35 and a 9mm G35) is to put certain accessories so you can color code them to know what they are (say you get a G35 in OD frame and or with a tan back plate on the slide, with a silver colored 9mm barrel installed, vs. your stock black G35).
