Gen 4 isn't available new to the general public. As many others say you can't go wrong with a G19, but you'd be surprised at how many people love the subcompacts. Try one.

Yeah try before you buy. I initially was going to get a Glock as my first and I ended up just not liking the feel, it was too light for me. I ended up going H&K. One thing thats nice about the Glocks is that most ranges have a couple models for you to try out.Comment

Go rent everything you can... Then decide.
I've got a SIG P226 and bought a G17.. I sold the Glock... Awesome gun but I didn't like the grip.
YMMV... My next one is a XD9.. All personal taste IMO..
Sent from my iPhone...Laws and common sense is all up to interpretation to us humans... and guess what? Humans suck.
Onegtalon... toooooo many hobbies man !...

I'm going to go out on a limb for a second...
But are you even 21 yet?
Looking at your SN connar usually more popular name around my generation and younger (me being 23).. 93 assuming your date of birth 1993 (almost 20) and your picture of a Lamborghini and jet fighter (obsession with cars and military forces usually a younger aged person looking forward to a good exciting career). This being your first hand gun and join date around the time you should be 18/19 so around the time your ready to ask your first questions of a first rifle or long gun purchase as did I around that time. All lead me to believe you might not be of legal age as of yet...Comment

Gen-2 G19 here. Great Pistol.
Ugly as a witch's tit, but it works well and is accurate.
I have a PPK/s and a Browning Hi-Power, both of which are much nicer looking guns...but I've had one small mechanical issue with the PPK; and the Glock is more accurate than either of the other two.
If I was looking for a First Gun in 9mm, IMHO, the G19 is the best Bang-for-the-Buck
Now, Having said all that...If you want the BEST in Class, get a Browning Hi-Power.

A good read on the Hi-Power:

I still say CZ ftw.Originally posted by Jimi JahI punch paper only because it is illegal to punch people.Originally posted by elpaisa1I think flatulence is a more serious crime. I think it should be a misdemeanor with a 1000 dollar fine or 6 months of jail. It should be a felony if done near an open flame.
