Agreed - or CZ or Beretta 92FS or Ruger P series. (Some of the Ruger P series are no longer built but are available for reasonable rates used - my P90 is one of my favorite guns).

Pick a 1911 in 9mm in your budget or a CZ (like an SP-01)

I think the cz is gonna be your best bet with a 1911 platform your looking for, plus it's not gonna break the bank if your within a reasonable budget. Check out cz usa website, they even have a 22lr conversion for certain model guns. Other than that, your looking to spend over 1k for a direct 9mm 1911 ie; springfield, smith&wesson, kimber etc..

Or.. If you can wait look into to rock island, theres two ways to obtain a 9mm 1911 platform. One way is to look for a fire arm dealer to do an SSE conversion for the dedicated 9mm 1911. The other way is to look for the ca compliant RIA 38 super and purchase a few parts to convert it to a 9mm, parts run roughly $150 ish. You go that route you'll have the ability to shoot 2 calibers if you wish.

Me personally, if I can't go the rock island way, I'm definitely going for the cz sp01.
