    Any thoughts on the PT92?
    Yes.

Too bad you were not looking for something last month when I sold two CZ's, here, for less than $500 with fees.

I really think I know less than most about handguns, but I would not get in a rush, if I were you. There are deals out there, and the guns you are looking at are run of the mill. Get those 5 Benjamins in hand and be ready to spend them on the gun you want.

As for the 2022, everyone else did it, so Sig did. That isn't Swiss quality, that is following the crowd.

The Ruger SR9 is a great gun, I'm trying to get a second one.
I can't recommend it more highly than I do, and I'm fairly sure the SR9 will be a serious contender against the Glock 17 for America's premier police pistol.

As for the Sig 2022 that seems to be dominating the conversation:
Sig realized that they needed a less expensive gun to compete effectively in today's arms market; the 2022 is the result of that realization.
Sig banked on their reputation for quality to carry them while selling aluminum frame guns for $800+; but with high quality polymers getting cheaper and cheaper, they couldn't hold onto their market share if they didn't put out a cheaper gun.

I'm not sure why posters are automatically equating polymer frames to lower quality. Modern polymers are stronger than steel, they're just easier to work with and far lighter. It's just a different material.

If you believed Sig was the epitome of fine Swiss gunsmithing, what makes you suddenly assume their quality is dropped to "0" when working in a slightly different medium?
I use to be an anarchist but I quit that; there's too many rules.

I don't think their metal-frame guns are very good right now either. The company got bought out and their quality has gone downhill. So has their customer service. I know a handful of people who have purchased Sigs in the last year or two, from 2022's up to 229's, and every single one has been in for warranty work at least once (which was a HUGE hassle to even get through to Sig CS on the phone). Sig is the only firearms company that I saw (and I looked at a list of 7 or 8) with an F rating with the BBB and dozens of consumer complaints filed... the others are A or A+ rated.

We've all seen photos of new Sigs full of rust, with defective parts, having various failures to function, etc etc etc. Their quality is not what it was, polymer or otherwise. I would get a CZ P-07 (polymer frame) 1,000 times over before I got a Sig 2022, 226, or 229. I'd probably also go M&P, FN, PX4, Caracal or really just dozens of other guns before the Sig. I have NOTHING against polymer whatsoever (and I carry a Beretta Nano).

        IMHO

...that said, it does seem that the Sig 1911's and the Sig P239 and P938 are pretty nice guns (although the 938 isn't proven yet and it clearly has some growing pains so far). I considered a 938 for carry but $700++ is freakin' steep for what it is...

I agree with some of the other post on here. The CZ is now my favorite!! Price range is reasonable, May have to wait as they're hot items right now - but worth the wait!!

I'm a huge CZ fan after getting my SP-01 recently, and don't tell anyone but if the price on it were $200-$300 higher (like most of the guns I consider comparable to it) I would still buy it and be very happy with it.

75B's can be had in your price range, or close enough to save a few more bucks for. I would recomend shooting one before you buy.

My nightstand gun used to be a Sig P239, but it didn't take long for the CZ to send the Sig off to sleep in the safe with everybody else.

I have a CZ75b, an FNP9, an XD, and an SR9. Of those four, the CZ is by far my favorite, and the SR9 by far my worst one.

Well that sucks - but I've heard similar horror stories about Smith and Wesson of late.

I guess there are always stories about every company, but...

Went to Triple A Sporting Goods in Vallejo and they have a CZ 75bd in stock for $550. As soon as I held it the Taurus PT92 fell off my list. I really like it, but I would like to shoot one first. Kinda a principle I have about buying handguns.

If you are speaking to me, I was tongue in cheek. The Swiss are very good machinists, and better business people. They probably build a very good plastic gun, and do it for the latter reason, not the first.

I sure someone in here has a cz 75b and is willing to let you shoot it, if you buy the ammo of course, I would let you shoot my sp-01 but I'm to far from you

Since this is only your 2nd one, buy something completely different that you like. Your wife may decide she likes the new one better than the Sig. Variety is nice.

S&W M&P 9 Full Size. With a proper grip, this gun is fast getting back on target.

Going back and forth between the XD and the CZ. The XD feels great in my hand but the CZ is growing on me. The accessories for the XD seem to be cheaper. Just thinking about total cost of ownership.
