    Help Deciding a New 9mm

    Hey Everyone,

A little over a month ago I bought out first handgun(Sig Sp2022 9mm). We love it! but my wife has really taken a liking to it and has caused me to look for something that will be mine. I decided on getting another 9mm just to save on ammo cost and we can share back and forth at the range.

I am not picky about DA/SA or Striker fired. Out of all the guns I've tried, this is what I've narrowed it down to:

Striker: SA XD9 Service or Rugar SR9 (preferring the XD)

    DA/SA: FNP 9 or Taurus PT92

I don't like the feel of Glocks and the Beretta's slide mounted decocker/safety. I've heard great things about CZ but think it might be out of price range.

Wondering if I should stick with DA/SA for continuity for my wife.

CZs are in your price range if you are looking at those models.

I'm a fan of the XD's also though, great guns and a bit easier to maintain, along with a easier to get accustomed to trigger.

DA/SA is my preferred, because I like to reholster a lot, and not undo a safety when unholstering.

CZ's are thin right now but might be worth waiting for.

If you like the Sig so much then why don't you get another Sig? If you like the SP2022 then you'll love the P226.

Big CZ fan here and, with thinner grips (widely available), it's going to fit your wife's hands a lot better than the 2022. The factory rubber grips might be too thick, and the factory plastic grips would probably be okay. FNP 9 would also likely be a better fit. However, you already have a polymer frame DA/SA gun, so I say go CZ and get something metal. Maybe a P-01... (which CZ Custom just got back in stock)

Did you miss the money thing?

Plus, if he gets another Sig he will never know how overpriced and mediocre they are.

                Just kidding.............sort of.

No, I never missed the money thing cuz he never said what his budget was. And Sigs are far better than mediocre

He tacitly implied what his budget is:

CZ's are less expensive than Sig's ergo P226 is out of budget for sure. Also note price range of models being considered (not to mention cost of 2022).

I would also agree that Sigs are mediocre, especially considering the price. X5 is pretty sick, but there are other guns I'd get first in that price range.

Just an opinion about Sigs, having had them apart.

The price thing, since he was considering a couple of $400 guns I divined that a $800 might be out of his range. Unless he was going to buy two.

                      Call me crazy.

I'm trying to stay around $500. I agree in the fact that it would be fun to try an all metal pistol. As far as Sig's being mediocre, the $450 I paid for mine with night sights will hit 2inch groups at 15 yards and the SA trigger is sweet!

                        Any thoughts on the PT92?

Not a fan of the 92 platform. Though I do like that they ditched the slide safety. Grips are quite large on them, so the wife may not like it much.

Great Thread. I am right there with you. I am looking too.

                            I am entertaining Sig 229 or 239.

I have 226 now and love it. Always have. I also like glock 19 too.

Like what was mentioned, you like sig go for it!

Get one based on a situation you could use it for......

She was very clear on "Get what you want." But I'm trying to consider her anyway.
