I couldn't handle the wait and bought is lightly used TRS with the 1.5" guarantee. No wait (other than the 10 days), no tax, and a little head start on the break-in. I've already shot more than the PO did and I've only owned it for a week! I can say, it shoots better than I do, but I hope to catch up one day.

Nice purchase! The only things that bother me on the Baers is the front strap checkering doesn't look that great. It looks a lot cleaner when it's done with a CNC machine and all the serrations on the slide is a little to much.

Les Baer builds his guns with unnecessarily tight slide to frame fit. You can't sling shot some of them out of the box. It's a misnomer that a tight slide to frame fit contributes anything substantial to accuracy. Hilton Yam says about 5% accuracy. Brown, Nighthawk, Wilson are all of standard tightness.

While I'm not disagreeing that some manufacturers may have excessively tight slide to frame fit, I think it's possible most of the racking difficulty on a new Les Baer comes from their barrel fitting method and very tight barrel lockup. My Springfield Pro has a similar fit barrel to the Les Baers and is just as difficult to rack, but if you remove the barrel the slide moves smoothly on the rails despite no discernable play.

It's interesting that Hilton Yam feels slide to frame fit is 5% whereas Jerry Kuhnhausen felt if was 15%.

The checkering on the front of the slide didn't look bad to me so it wasn't an issue. I was actually more concerned with the fit in my hand (kinda big hands).

I tried another one which was too thin for my hand and when I tried the CC it was a perfect fit.
