The point is these clerks there are apparently following store policy by asking questions I am pretty certain they don't know/haven't experienced before. EVER !

Heck, I've bought a few guns there. The last time when I was grilled by the clerk about stove pipe, I asked him if he's ever seen 1 in real life, he said... "yes" in a very meek manner. I said "Really?", then pulled a picture from my phone, showed it to him and ask him if it looked like it. He said "Oh... WOW !"

Tm is about 7 or 8 bucks for an hour, reeds is
      about 16 or so.

The price is hard to beat, which is why I still frequent. I don't mind cramped quarters I also get along with the staff. You do need to be careful sometimes. I often appreciate getting a lane on the wall a bit easier to keep an eye on other shooters.

Those green baskets are a red flag LOL!

Did a PPT at TM and it almost took an hour and half. Did a PPT at J&R in Livermore and I was in and out in 7 minutes. No lie. I will never got to TM again. Why I was in the process of doing my PPT they had people coming in to pick up and they were rushed to the front of the line since they had already been through the nightmare. I asked what the hell was going on and they said the good news is when you come to pick up you will go to the front too. It was a train wreck. They kept passing the documents off from one person to another so many eyes would see if before letting you out the door. I sort of get it but it is a huge inconvenience for the customers. The trade off was they really were doing their best to be nice about it. But at the end of the day there are options and I will choose J&R any day over TM.

Yeah TM is pretty painful, bought my CZ there an it takes forever and their question BS isn't any fun either. Even just buying plain ammo you have to fill out their form. If I can I avoid TM.

I hear people giving the guys at TM ***** all the time. There's really only one guy there that is an ***, everyone else is pretty cool. They have the best prices around and since they sell so many guns, the DOJ is really picky with them. I know the staff well and they all are really cool people, they're just doing what they have to. They get people in there all the time who have never even held a gun but want to buy one that day so they are very strict about knowing how to operate that particular firearm. I've bought three guns so far from them, and if you know how to operate the gun, there really isn't a problem other than going through the safety checks. If you dont know the answer, they usually give it to you so I really dont see what the problem is.

TM needs to fix their signs saying if you buy/use clean ammo you save $2 on the lane. First time I went there the worker gave me the 2 dollar discount for using some cleanfire and the second time the worker said the clean ammo had to be purchased from them. I always thought when people use / they mean and/or but I guess I was wrong.

They didn’t enter the serial number correctly and caused a 22 day wait period for my TRP.

See, they went above and beyond as well with the wait period and made it 11days, and they wouldn’t even cut me a day off when I had to wait all over again.

I’ll go back to them when another FFL can’t enter the serial number correct either, and makes it a 22 day wait period.

I like Reeds, and Gun Vault.

I seriously doubt this. They take 5x as long to do any paperwork.

                          Target Masters volume is irrelevant.

They have a lack of politico-regulatory understanding and, in paranoia, are perhaps radically overexerting themselves in irrelevancies.

I note that Trader's did this too in the late 90s and still ended up losing their FFL.

Bottom line: do the right thing at the right time. Overemphasizing the melody while having a weak left hand doesn't win you the piano competition.

Overasking questions about gun functions for the safety demo test simply won't compensate f***-ups elsewhere on 4473 matters, etc. [In late 2004 I was sold a Sprinfield 1911 Compact handgun that was off-Roster and the clerk somehow overrode the system. It turned out the gun fell off the Roster the week before. I only noticed this when I was just rechecking it a few weeks later - I noted this, contacted them, and went thru another 10 day wait for a swap for a Rostered gun. [The difference was blued vs. parkerized!]

Perhaps if they asked less questions that have no legal significance, they might pay more attention to the range booths so customers are not swept by noobs with hot barrels. (I've received a ton of complaints about this.)

i am officially done with buying from TM, i picked up a shotgun the other day. everything was going good, it was taking longer than usual. i guess they were being slow but whatever i am getting my shotgun so i would let it pass. got the shotgun the lady asks me if i wanted to let her recycle the box. i told her no thanks the box makes good burning material in my fire place. all of a sudden she gives me this evil look and then lectures me about how i am polluting the air and junk. i grit my teeth and just let her talk because i really did not want to get into a argument in a gun store........then she goes on to how i should always check if it was a spare the air day and i lost it. i told her oh yeah i check for the spare the air days because that's when i get to BBQ "freedom dogs".

her: what is a "freedom dog"

me: first ya go down to the store and buy all beef hotdogs. next ya go outside and fire up the grill. it CAN NOT be a gas grill it must be a good old charcoal grill that smokes up a storm. now come the important part, you grill those dogs to perfection all the while enjoying a nice cold beer. finally you eat that contraband hotdog with a firm sense of satisfaction that you caused a extra little bit of pollution that day in the name of freedom and deliciousness.
