    Easy to shoot accurately

So I have had a few handguns over that last 10 years and S & W model K's are easy to shoot straight for me, 1911 seem to be pretty easy to shoot accurately, but my glocks have given me fits, and I LOVE glocks. So what glockish handgun shoots accurately for the average shooter like me? I am very tempted by the new XDM's I have seen on Hickok45's channel (yes I know he shoots glocks very accurately). So does the XD or XDM line, or maybe the M & P's or a Berretta or Ruger or you name it, shoot accurately for the average person off the street. I think it's a matter of trigger design, some are just easier to shoot straight. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that fact ( I think it's a fact?)

And let me know if there is any study that had average citizens shooting different pistols for score without extensive training for trigger control. I think that would be very interesting, have 10 different manufacturers full size or mid size 9mm thru .45 cal, and let average people shoot them for score and see what platform shoots straight for the untrained person.

As a former Marine I would think the military has done such studies, but maybe they are only concerned with reliability and cost, but seems like the 1911's trigger is pretty user friendly.

And yes I know I could train, train, train with the glock trigger (and might still) but maybe I'm better off picking something easier right from the beginning?????

I'm over the manufacturer bias's, and just want something I can hit the target consistently with

I think you should just pick the gun that has the features that you want and like the way it feels and then commit to shuttling to your level of desired proficiency. Training with an instructor will likely short cut the process.

Some Marines still use the 1911 plus other military units. Basic 1911 maintenance isn't too bad.

Glock's angle on the pistol grip is a natural grip on average human being so its easy to shoot accurately vs. a pistol grip that is Not natural where practice is required.

I don't know if I'm a freak or something, but I don't even consciously notice a difference between shooting Glocks and my other pistols. I can shoot my XD half the day and then pick up my Glock, and shoot it just as well without even consciously changing my grip or shooting style. I have friends that can shoot other pistols fine, but can't hit a barn with a Glock.

Yes I know I will get a 1000 responses calling for lots and lots of practice with whatever pistol I like......thats a given, but is there a good quality pistol that shoots straight for the average person out of the box? For example, Car and Driver had an article about racing a viper vs a corvette and they mentioned the average guy can run laps faster with the corvette because of the design and ease of use ( I love Vipers though), and of course if you had access to the track and a Viper you could learn to lap just as fast with all things being equal........but hopefully that will clarify my question better.

I'm very accurate with a Ruger 10/22 pistol, much less so with a .45.

My experience is that if I can hit the target with one pistol, I can hit the target with any other modern pistol in the same caliber. I might go from 8/9/10 at 25 yards with a pistol I'm familiar with to 6/7/8/9/10 with one I've not shot before.

Have you shot the Glock from a benchrest? Maybe the sights are off?

Glocks don't fit my hand well, but my XD does, and I shot better with it, even when I was just starting. I also liked the history and design of the SIG P226, but it doesn't fit my hand well either, and I was not a good shot with it. I think you should try as many guns as you can and pick the one that feels most comfortable.

Not for everyone, I always seem to point low, which is not a problem with other handguns.

                          Maybe a target Glock like a Glock 34, 35?

I've had the same experience, love the reliability, low maintenance, and high capacity but do not shoot them accurately. I sold one of my glocks this year and will continue shooting Sigs, 1911, and revolvers.

I can't miss with my Beretta Cougar. Don't know what it is, I've just always shot more accurately with that gun than with others.
