200 rds fired means at least 600.
Like new means not new but I don't want to "lose" money selling my gun.
Custom means " I spent ALOT of money on upgrades, and I want that money back"
My <insert name here> 1911 has functioned flawlessly. Well except those stove pipes and misfeeds which were ammo related.

I have purchased and sold a few items over the last couple of months. I have probably paid a little more than I wanted but went for it because I wanted it.

Items I have sold went for less than I wanted, mainly because I usually spend a lot on extras such as mags and you never get it back. I would probably be better off spliting up the gun from the mags but it is my preference to try to sell it all to one person. I believe people have been happy with what they have paid for guns that I have sold to them.

Some items retain their value better than others, and some are just plain overpriced. Then there are the items that are priced really well and you are mad that they are not in your area, sell before you can buy it, or you just don't need it, but want it anyway because it is priced so right.

The real time waster is not putting your location in your subject line if you aren't willing to ship.

That said I can't stand the guys trying to turn a profit by exploiting stupid people... Seriously, get an FFL and go into business if that's what you're about. Lazy sellers that can't be bothered to make the effort to price what they are selling from the beginning are also a peeve. Understandably though some of the more specialized and custom guns require a more specialized and custom buyer, having the same crap up for months seems quite excessive though. Some of the sellers realize this and start new threads before they go multi page.

The OP's posts indicate he is only here to deal. Nothing wrong with that or complaining that he would like better deals. Sounds like a kid..............patience.

Your right. I am one of those buyers that won't buy something overpriced.
That's great so maybe you should request to have this thread deleted because it's a waste of bandwidth. I honestly can't believe someone even posted a thread on this. A gun, car, etc. etc. is only worth what someone is willing to pay PERIOD!!! I have seen cars sell for WAAAAYYYY more than what the KBB is. What it's worth to you is different to others. That's not so hard to see now is it?

There's also the possibility that the owner is content with the price he/she set, and if he doesn't find the right price, he/she is content with holding on to it. You guys are over thinking this.

Thats why... if you dont like the price... shoot the seller a price you WILL pay. But be considerate, offer a REASONABLE price. That puts the ball in the sellers court... he can decide to take an offer that may never come or he can take your offer.

When selling, it all comes down to how motivated a seller you are. If you're highly motivated, price it right quickly and it will sell. If you're in no rush, see what you can get and price it where you want.

Buyers generally buy out of emotion. If they really want something they'll buy it. Lowballing means you'll take it but only if the price is right....that's not a motivated buyer and not someone I want to work with as a seller. My point is, sometimes it takes a while to find a motivated buyer. It does happen

When I sell homes, I always advise a listing price below market. That creates a bidding wr driving the price up. Don't know if that will work for guns though. Kind of doubt it.

I agree 100% some people are scared to low ball. I like low ball offers I usually always post my items on the high end so I can wiggle my way down. Everyone likes a deal and it feels good to knock some money off an item, but 9 times out of 10 I actually get more than I really wanted for the item I am selling.

There are some firearms that are just TRENDY and others that have a collector or slight collector value, There are some that are just not real popular and they take a specific type of buyer so the time frame to sell may take a while. I have listed guns here and they did not sell in a few weeks so they were removed and relisted in a few months and gone with in a day or so. The items I sell are not sold in desperation they are sold to make room for others and I'm sure many other sellers are doing the same.

It's not that it's over priced it's the right buyer hasn't come around to seeing it available for sale. Calguns is a pretty small audience compared to a sight like gunbroker. It's all about finding the right buyer at the right price. Which is why you typically can command a higher price on gunbroker. I prefer to sell to fellow calgunners and keep the guns in California.

Also some people aren't in a hurry to sell it, so why not just bump it for 3 or 4 months and wait for that collector or enthusiast that is willing to pay for it. (Edit: In the mean time you can enjoy it while you still have it)

I love the free market economy.

And most people don't like that the firearm is fully "customed" and high priced. You think that your firearm looks good but others think that it is ugly for them.

It's like factory civic vs full blown modified civic. I'd take the factory one.
