    selling your firearm

I constantly browse the marketplace forums for firearms that are up for sale and can't help but notice, many of these items have been for sale for over a month; some with inquiries and some without. I wanted to give some advice to future sellers or current sellers.

When selling any item, it all comes down to price. If you had an item listed for sale and you "bump" it everyday for a month and still haven't sold, you maybe overpriced.
After a few weeks or months of "bump"ing and there has been no interest or inquiries, you are over priced.

After just a few days or weeks, if there is a ton of inquiries and interest yet you haven't sold, you are over priced.

If it was priced right, it would sell!!! This goes for everything: houses, cars, guns, you name it...

It always comes down to price. We all have to be realistic with ourselves and accept the fact that sometimes even though a product is worth a certain amount doesn't mean it can sell for that amount and vice versa.

I have spoken to some calgunners who actually sold some things after a few months of "bump"ing. They sold for a fraction of the price they originally wanted. When speaking with them, they all agreed that if they listed it for the amount they sold it for from the beginning, they would have sold it a long time ago. And not wasted anytime.

We all sell things for a reason: funding a new project, making room in our safe for new toys, or just plain needing the money. Either way, there is no use in wasting much time.

So next time you sell an item.... Really ask yourself this question... What is it realistically worth in the open market and am I willing to let it go for that price. Of yes, then list it for that price and quit wasting time. It will save you a lot of time, energy, and efforts.

LOL! Who are you again? You must've been one of those potential buyers, but didn't want to fork over the extra cash. You wasted time with this thread!

          @Flawls1

Your right. I am one of those buyers that won't buy something overpriced.

For everyone it definitely comes down to emotions.... But emotions doesn't get your item sold.

It takes a lot of energy to bump, you are right.

              The market changes.

The "right" price is different for every person.

The "right price" is the price that will sell the product... If that is what the intention is. We can list things for whatever we want but doesn't mean we're gonna get it.

Your right ill drop the price on my custom 1911 all that shop work and waiting for months doesnt mean ****.

Or maybe that GSG 1911 i cant sell is all due to the price... not the fact that they fail in peoples faces.

It all comes down to the price.

^^ This. Some people are so stubborn that they list their firearms for what I could get one new. People complain and say they shouldn't do that... Instead of complaining about the people and their ridiculous prices, I look at new firearms. I would rather support my LGS if the difference is under $50 OTD.

If people want to be stubborn and believe their gun is worth more than another that is exactly the same, I say let them. I am never buying their products unless there is absolutely no other way to obtain it and I have to have that specific one.

When selling a firearm on here, I like to look up old listings of the same gun to see approximately what it'll be sold at. I use that as a base price and then add a percentage of the cost of the extras.

An important point. Except for "mag kits", extras lose a lot of their value. A LOT.
