    Ruger P89

I love mine. I haven't had a single misfire or misfeed after god knows how many rounds. Yes, the trigger could be better. No, newbies don't oooh and aaah at it when I take it to the range. But I would entrust it with my life if the SHTF. Anyone else here down with the Ruger P-series?

My brother has one in .40, I like it, a little space age looking, but like most modern pistols it shoots just fine.
If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

I definately feel the same about my Ruger handguns. I think they're some of the best values for the money out there. I especially love my P-97 in .45 acp, it has never had a FTF and shoots like a dream. Way more accurate than most stock 1911's out there.

I also own a glock 23 in .40 that I prefer for concealed carry; however, I would definately trust my life to any handgun Ruger makes (except for maybe the new p-345, have heard some of the first batch have had some small issues).

        OT:

Man, you really need to get a Wally George avatar up there. Ha, being a teen watching WG and Request Video, we were always bummed that WG wouldn't let <18 yr olds into the studio audience.

The P94, right? Those do look very futuristic. Probably the coolest looking memebr of the P-series, IMO.

I'm partial to the P90. But either way, all those guns are built like tanks. I would like to try the polymer framed rugers like the P97. Anyone have experience w/ the P345?

Awesome rkt88edmo, someone finally remembers Wally George!!!

I used to love his show, and all the other shows that KDOC 56 had. Was Request Video the name of the music video show? That show damn rocked!!! Please tell me if you have any old Wally George videos, would love to watch that show again!

To hank rearden, yeah, the P94 was the best looking of the Ruger P series, IMHO. Another flawless Ruger pistol as well.

To asintado, the Ruger p97 is a DREAM to shoot and is accurate and reliable as HELL. I believe Guns Magazine did a torture test on it and it went 5000 rounds with no problems or FTF's!!! Even the Sigs usually cant do that.

The p345 is just an updated version of the P97, with more safety crap on it, and a higher price. Buy the P97 and save yourself some money and get one of the most reliable pistols ever made. The P90, P97 and the p345 all use the same mags, so if you want the p345 later, you can just use those.

I've got an original P85 (well, actually it's now a MKII) and I love it.
Ugly as a pit bull and super reliable. The only problems have been my own creation.
Probably 10,000 round thru it so far. It's in my nightstand with the flashlight all the time.

Is ~$470 out the door a fair price on a kp89?

Wow, $299. I had a feeling $470 was too high. Sac is pretty far away for me...

I'll just wait for a local deal then. Thanks!

Don't be suprised to find some well kept used ones in the high 200 and low 300 range. At Sacramento Armory I saw a P89DC and a P85 side by side one for 289 and the other for 320. If you're looking for a quality, rock solid 9mm (and even .40 & .45) I'm sure you can find a Ruger thats right for you.

I saw an excellent quality used p85 for $350. Looks like it wasn't used much at all. But for $350, I'd rather get a new kp89.

I'm not sure how long I'll have to wait for a hot kp89 deal. I'm tempted to drive to Sac if the kp89 goes for $299 there. But that's a 6 hr round trip and kind of detracts from saving $100.

Make a trip out of it. My buddies who live in the bay drive up on occasion to tour the local gun shops since they're somewhat within reach of each other. If you do swing through here go on a tuesday when all the shops are open.
