If all your people hitting low and left are right handed (most likely) a quick check to see that it is you and not the gun is to just shoot it left handed. When it magically is no longer impacting to the left, you know its you.

I go with G-forceJunkie but also add to try putting your finger farther on the trigger right handed and see what happens

A ransom rest is a good investment IMO. It takes the majority of human error out of the equation. When my gf had a M&P 9c, the best group it would do was 0.75" at 7 yards. I called S&W to explain this problem and they said it fell within spec.

This doesn't seem like a big deal until you do the math. If you extrapolate [(25/7)*0.75], the best group the gun could shoot is 2.7" at 25 yards, which is unacceptable to me. My gf sold the gun and got an XD9sc and all the shots touch at 7 yards.

So while the probability is high that it's the shooter is to blame, you'll never know unless you use a ransom rest or figure out some way to remove human error from the test.

Edited to add: When my gf had the M&P 9c, I did a lot of research and other people had the same problem with accuracy. From what I gathered, S&W used a slow twist rate on the 9mm M&P barrels, which affected accuracy of slower rounds. Using hotter rounds seemed to improve accuracy for those people. I didn't experiment with hot loads myself so I can't attest to these claims, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I have an M&P9, I'm a pretty new shooter. But if I relax and focus on just squeezing the trigger, I am decently accurate. I definitely need work, as I would like to be much better, but the gun is very consistent for me.

However, I found that Winchester White Box was not having it in my gun. I ran through several types of ammo in the same day, they all seemed to go about where I aimed them, but the WWB was different.

Could have been me, but every time I switched to a different ammo I seemed to be back on target. Went through 100 rounds of WWB and it was just everywhere, everything else seemed as accurate as I can manage to be. But it could have been mental. Like taking a sugar pill you think is for a cold and you get better.

I've noticed WWB seems to be a slightly hotter load than some others but I haven't had any problems with it being less accurate. I think its all mental hehe, I have the same issue with Speer lawman in .45acp

Your logic is flawed. You can't determine "best group accuracy" with math, extrapolated from a 7 yard group. Bullets wobble a bit at the beginning of flight and then settle down over distance.

Did you actually SHOOT it at 25 yards?

Most likely it is a mental block, but I stopped buying it anyways and have been happy. However WWB .357/.38 Special seems to be the nicest thing to shoot out of my wife's revolver.

When a former recent National Champion and runner up World Champion of Production USPSA, IPSC complains about accuracy of a M&P 9mm, it's the gun...

                    There may be strong language:

I worked with a student today that was rocking a couple M&P pistols. He had them worked over for competitive shooting.

The ergonomics were great, the triggers were light, I could reload the guns fast and so forth. Honestly they were badass USPSA guns.

There was a bit of a problem with the guns though.

They would not group for ****. I tried different ammo and I tried repeatedly. I simply could not shoot a good group with the guns. One of them even had an aftermarket barrel and that didn't seem to make much difference.

Now, I am not the world’s greatest group shooter, but I can fairly consistently shoot a 3 inch group (or much less) standing at 25 yards with my Berettas.

With these stupid M&Ps they my groups were like 5 inches usually. About 1 in 15 rounds went zinging off into the edge of the C zone or even the D zone. I didn’t see this happening on my sights and I just could not figure this issue out. I don’t have this happen with my Berettas or with any other pistol I have shot.

I have been hearing reports of this for awhile and this is not the first time I have seen it… it just pisses me of that an otherwise great gun is such a turd. MFCEO

If there is something wrong with the gun, I would guess it was the sights as opposed to the barrel.

Have a few more people shoot it before you jump to any conclusions though!

Yes, it was shooting 3-4 inch groups at 25 yards.

The math was to calculate what the best possible group could be at 25 yards in theory. Unfortunately it was worse than that in real life.

Even with the presence of wobble, groups shouldn't be that bad at 7 yards. Comparing apples to apples, all my other guns shoot a ragged hole at 7 yards while the M&P 9c never did.

Anyone with a POS M&P that shoots low and left can bring it to me, I'll buy it.
