Why dont you shoot one and see for yourself?

Im not 1911 "fan boy" but I have one in my collection. Its one of the nicest pistols I own.

First- the trigger....and then a bunch of other things.

Form and function. The grip angle and safety are very ergonomic, the weight is sufficient to counter the recoil, the single action trigger can be fantastic.

It's the big bore handgun that many of our fathers and grandfathers used and their preference was passed along to many of us. The things that we learn as chidren are some of the strongest memories that we'll always have.

If you grew up in the time of print magazines and books, from the 1920's through the 1970's they were the only choice for a fighting gun.

First time I ever fired a 1911 or a .45 I picked it up, racked it back and fired a full mag (7 rounds) at 7 water bottles roughly 40 ft away. Hit every target quickly and one handed lol. Sounds corny but true. Point being ive never had any gun feel as comfortable smooth as a 1911. It feels like an extention of my arm. Sadly I'm still to cheap to spend 1k on a pistol.

My dad passed away a few years ago and until then I never owned one. I never held his until after he was gone and once I picked it up - I was like - wow - the thing is 60 + years old and fits just right - better then my Sig (to me). Better than any hand gun I had held; I've since bought four...love em.

My first hand gun was a Glock 17 and i did all the mods to it and i love it. Put 1000 rds thru it and very quickly was able to shoot 5" paterns at 35' and happened to go shoot with my brother inlaw and a friend of his who let me shoot his 1911. 1 magazine and i shot 3" paterns and bought a Kimber 1911 one month later, i WAS impressed !

1911= accurate, reliable, safe, easy to maintain, customize, etc... It's the Camry of handguns, in a good way.

Is there anything sexier than this? I mean really.

I think it definitely starts with the trigger. Shooting a good 1911 opened my eyes to what a good trigger should feel like.

It's a classic gun and has a lot of history and aura behind it. For me, the heft and the longer sight radius of a full-size 1911 made it really easy to shoot.

I agree 1911's are the sexiest pistols ever made. Thank God for John Moses Browning.

Shoot one and the answer will be clear. 101 years later and the platform is still going strong.
