Have you ever used Kimber's CS? The only one time I have had to use them they were top notch! Best bang for the buck out there is the Custom II

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! on the Kimber they have too high of a failure rate compared to other brands
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

That's because they make twice as many as the next leading brand.

I have a Kimber, Sig, & Springfield and they're all well made in my opinion.

My first 1911 was a Kimber Custom II/TLE, in all honesty I never experienced any of the alleged malfunctions that Kimber's are supposedly known for. So that being said, I would gladly own another Kimber. But If I was to purchase another I would just save up for a Nighthawk or Wilson Combat. After shooting one or any other hand built 1911 for that matter you will understand why I say this. For an entry level gun I would say go with any of the three, you won't be disappointed in any of them.

Did you find out how many guns each brand makes and compare or are you just basing that on the fact that you can find Kimbers everywhere and Colt and Springfield are just harder to find?
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Well I believe it is a fact that Kimber sells the most 1911's out of all the other manufacturers.

I would love to take Larry Vickers gunsmith class and make my own. That would be a keeper.

He is correct, here are the numbers from the ATF:

Kimber made over 85,000 pistols in the last year reported(2010)

                        colt 30,000 pistols

                        SPringfield 16,000

And I believe this is their main QC problem. Too many produced to keep up with the defects that are leaving the assembly line. THe "made in America" stamp doesn't guarantee anything. I got rid of two kimbers and now I only have SA and I'm getting a sig soon. The only kimber I'll ever buy again would be an early model one. Im not saying nobody should buy them, but my experience with them was not favorable.

Good thing I haven't had any problems with my Kimber and I hope it stays that way.

I own a springer loaded model. Very nice gun. All the guns in your buddys list are nice.
You really should add the SIG 1911 to that list though. I put my hands on one at a local shop and have to say if I had a grand to spend it would be at the top of the list. One of the best triggers I have felt, and the slide had no play at all, felt like it was on ball bearings when I racked it..
