One answer would be to have KelTec finally make a roster-approved P32 for the California market. IMHO, it’s still the smallest, lightest, reliable pocket .32 available that can utilize the hotter Euro rounds. Unfortunately, they make them in occasional batches and are like hen’s teeth to find in California. As we Boomers age, I do believe there would be a market for them, as well as the Bodyguard 2.0; which supposedly has lighter recoil than the LCP Max.

Here is an old article/ballistic test of available .32 ACP ammo.

Personally. I like .32 ACP, but I only rely on European .32 ACP/7.65x17SR FMJ ammo because it is loaded hotter and FMJ because I am looking for consistent penetration, not iffy expansion. Historically, a lot of European police agencies relied on .32 ACP as concealed duty handgun and only changed in 1970s. it was sufficiently popular in US for self-defense. Just because there are better choices, does not negate .32 ACP.

A scientific look at your best 32 ACP ammo for self-defense. We test various loads in gelatin to see what you should expect from your pocket pistol with 32 Auto.

” Just because there are better choices, does not negate the 32 acp “..

Yes, I enjoy all calibers and firearms, but better choices does put the 32acp in its place.

I believe it was Jim Cirillo ( NYPD stakeout officer ) who recorded the many shootouts he had, and he was very weary of small caliber weapons.

I stated before that even 380 and 38spl have failed and that ammo selection is very important, so why pick an even smaller caliber.

        Compared to 380acp / 38spl +P - the 22lr, 25acp , and 32acp are less effective weapons for SD.

I’m good with carry a tool everyday, but we are in a time when you can carry a nice system with little trouble.

Again, ok I agree small firearms are nice and all that, if someone carries them sure bravo, or if we want to see new guns added to ca, I applaud the effort,.

For SD - we have to know the limits of each weapon system that we choose. Thank you.

That would be a lot of power in a mouse sized gun.

Smaller caliber guns are not useless. No one wants to get shot. Very often an armed victim of a crime can fend off the crooks simply by brandishing a gun, no matter how small (common calibers, not 2.7mm Colibri). Even a 22 short can poke holes in people. That's the name of the game. Poke holes in people to bleed them out.

I have zero problems with .380 as a defensive round. The caliber has reached high ground in recent years as far as defensive choices. My main primary is still 9mm, but I will not put down those who even choose .22LR. RFK was assasinated by Sirhan Sirhan using a .22 revolver. John Hinkley incapacitated four grown men with a .22 revolver.

Again, my primary caliber choice for handgun defense is 9mm, but I refuse to criticize those who choose smaller.

I carry a kahr 380 as small as i will go since I can just drop it into a cargo pocket. My normal carry is a j frame .357 with 38 self defence loads. I Have carried a S&W 317 .22 but only while hiking due to light weight

Yes, but again RFK and the men jh shot were not in fight mode.

Criminals are hyped up and in fight mode and are running on adrenaline to get either their fix or money.

That means they have a mindset of being in fight mode and are willing to fight ( at least the hard core ones are ).

Not only that, but it’s been shown that 380acp / 38 spl +P are rated ( take that for what it is ), as the standard minimum calibers, why because they have failed in SD situations, and are rated as the minimum powered rounds for SD -

So why would a person ( not picking on op ) pick a lower powered round like 22/25/32 when 380 / J- Frame are already small type weapons that can work well, and some are even lightweight as well.

I am not against small type weapons ( like I said I have the beretta 22 / 25’s and the walther ppk( s ) whatever in 32acp ) but they are last ditch weapons for my choice as SD guns.

I’m not demanding anyone follow my thoughts on things, I’m just giving another pov on small caliber rounds, and everyone has their own favorites as well.

                    Thanks ~

I heard that the Ruger mk pistol in 22lr was used as an assassin weapon.

Those little pistols do have a lot of history, I do like them as very nice firearms.

                      🙂
