    Check Out This Revolver Speedloader

Holds 18 rounds, three reloads for a six-shot cylinder. Anyone ever tried one? Only $24 plus shipping.

Interesting. I see they are coming out with a 5 shot as well. I wonder how well it might work with my 638….

I had an idea for something like this years ago based on a materials dispenser I saw that used a long cylinder in segregated sections and a rolling switch to deliver the same amount and number of parts to a machine to process, that were loaded in advance. One of those passing thoughts I guess that I should have implemented.

Not sure about the chunky nature of this though and how well it feeds the later rounds as it seems they have to slide through that longer portion to get out front.

My friend had one today at steel challenge. No wad cutters btw. Seems to work ok. Not too bulky

What happens when it gets dropped, and hits the ground?…Will any of the cartridges be either ejected or misaligned?

              Seems bulky...
I still prefer the others (like HKS) - just dump empties, use Ayoob's method of two cartridges nose-in, twist knob, cartridges load into cylinder, drop the loader.
If another reload is needed, use the next speedloader.
(Just personal preference and prior training...)

I've had one for awhile now. It works good. I use an old pepper spray pouch to hold it. I have dropped it loaded on purpose to test it. Other than a little dirty and a couple scuff marks, it works fine. No rounds popped out.

Works the same on my S&W 65 and 686.

                      From one review on Amazon

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice Idea Poorly Executed

I bought it and tried it. It's a fun idea but has lots of issues:

Safety: they don't mention until you receive the instructions that you can't use FMJ with it or it could ACCIDENTALLY DISCHARGE. Which makes sense, because the projectile tips are just *slamming* right into the primers in front of them at high speed. I don't care if they say hollow point is safe with this reloader, and maybe it is: it just doesn't seem like safety was built into the design.

Practical use: if the point is to have 18 speedloads ready instead of 6, where are you putting this reloader after your first and second reloads, during an actual shooting engagement? Back in your pocket? Holding it in your free hand? You'll need to go back to the reloader for those rounds. But a speedloader in an emergency, life-threatened situation should be something you use once and toss aside, not something you have to hold onto to get to the rest of your ammunition. So this reloader is really more of a range toy. Nothing wrong with that, but it would never be useful in an active shootout, and standard 6 (or 5) shot speedloaders are far more practical.

Quality: this thing is made of cheap plastic. It comes with what they describe as a detachable 6-shot speedloader that you have to unscrew to use. Well, they made the screws insanely tiny, and as tight as humanly imaginable. When I tried unscrewing the separable loader, I had to apply so much force that my screwdriver slipped and tore through the plastic top of the loader, making the whole toy unusable. So that extra feature is out. I watched a video of a guy trying to unscrew it and he had the same issue.

Seems to be a range assistance and convienence toy at best. I can't imagine carrying this thing, nor as support for CCW or other self-defense needs - awkward and clumsy under pressure would be an understatement.

What do you do with it once you do your first reload and need to get rounds on target again immediately? Shoot one handed while holding this in your support hand? Hold it like a flashlight? Drop it so you have to look down and findit for the second reload? Stow it back on your belt while soaking up incoming rounds?

I'm no speed loader or revolver guru in any sense of the word, but I see way more drawbacks than positives.

Question I have is after the first 6 rounds are reloaded, how does the round 7-12 move to the "ready" position? Is it by gravity or spring loaded?

If by gravity, then the reload has to be done with barrel facing downward. In a range or during competition, that's probably 90% of time. But in the field, that is not always the case.

Also, after round 1- 6 are used, does the remaining 12 rounds just slide around inside the device. Probably why the warning on not using FMJ.

The inventor probably should think about adding spring loading.
