Missed out on a slide posted here last week. Will Glock be making anymore gen 3 slides again? Looking for a 35 slide. With my luck probably not.

There are some MOS Gen 3 slides for 17/19 on Ebay for $469, how badly do you want one? For me, paying as much for a stupid slide as I paid for the entire gun rubs me the wrong way.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Lucky for me, I dislike optics on a carry CCW gun. So I am fine with my G19 with it's TruGlo white dots I put on it.Originally posted by Ishootforblood
Agreed 👍. Having a Glock OEM (MOS) Slide on your Gen 3 Frame is great, and right now, buying the slide separately is the only way forward if you want Gen-3 Glock OEM gear. It seems expensive right now, but it might look like a bargain next year. You never just know!
On the other hand, Glock may offer California Residents MOS Slides for the new “V” Series. Perhaps the rumored Gen-6 will become available and optics ready?
It could be like Freedom Week. When the Music Stops: you have what you have.
I have several pistols with optics and for me, I shoot much worse with optics, don't like them and I've tried them on my Ruger Max 9, H&K VP9 and just tried it on my Walther PDP.

I tried a red dot on a pistol. I liked the concept, but didn't like the sight. I have a strong astigmatism and saw three blurry dots when looking through it. I was told that a green dot was better for an astigmatism. I tried looking through one at an LGS and it was one bright dot.

I just bought an Echelon kit that comes with a green dot and I'm looking forward to giving it a try.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I have all green dots except for my Aimpoint Pro which I have on an AR that is a red dot. I don't see multiple dots and I do have Astigmatism also but my contacts correct for it. I just find finding the dot quickly takes too long and I don't like seeing the twitching of the dot on the target.

Don't like anything about the whole experience with a pistol. On a rifle, these issues, for some reason, don't bug me too much. I don't think optics are bad per se, but I do think they are not the right choice for me for CCW and HD. Some people shoot really well with the dots on pistols

I've used some aftermarket slides on my Gen 3 pistols over the years, but they all need some fine-tuning to make them run reliable.
A couple of my favorites are the Brownells nitride slide with front serrations (which are now discontinued) and one of the P80 G19 slides I picked up some years ago for a different build. I really like the Brownells slide since the serrations are cut deep so it's very easy to grab onto, with the RMR footprint for my G19 and G17. Really wanted the G34 slide but those sold out fast and never restocked.
When you read reviews about poor reliability, it's usually because people just slap on the slide and get malfunctions within the first 100 or so rounds. What you need to do is put a little work into cleaning them up, like sanding down and polishing the rails and other contact points on the slide. You don't need a mirror finish but work your way from a 400 grit sand paper up to to a 1000 or 2000 grit paper to get a smooth finish. Drop some oil or grease onto those areas and the slide runs super smooth. I've yet to have any malfunctions with my Brownells slides and I've put thousands of rounds through them, and even use one on my carry G19 since I trust it that much.
Some people are completely against aftermarket parts, but to each their own.
