Ended up getting myself a Derya DY9. Put a deposit down on 11/11, DROS'd on 11/17 and picked up on 12/1. Not a bad pistol for $300. Finally took it to the range today and shot 100 rounds through 4 different mags (DY9 mag & G17 mags from Glock, KCI and Magpul). No malfunctions. A few observations about the DY9.
        • Stock sights are horrible. The front red fiber optic is the dimmest I have ever used.
        • Slide serrations could be more aggressive. Hard to get a good grip without slipping
        • Grip texture is almost non-existent. Will have to order some sandpaper grips .
        • Trigger is smoother than stock G19. Trigger broke at just under 5 lbs (5 pull average on a Wheeler digital trigger pull gauge)
        • Side by side comparison to a G19 (w/ sight and 3.5lb connector upgrade), the DY9 felt just a little smoother and just a tad bit less perceived recoil.
Honestly, can't beat the value on this pistol. Mag disconnect was nicely executed and easy to remove, can't say the same for the CLI. Overall, still pretty impressive for a $300 pistol.

Any plans to upgrade sights? Is it even possible?

How does one remove the mag disconnect on this pistol?

I am not aware of any replacement sights for the DY9. I had planned on adding a red dot but the riser plate raises the red dot a bit high. Might get a direct mount replacement slide for $99 or better yet, an island kit. I did order some black inserts from Dawson to try out to replace the green fiber for the rear sights.

I do not advocate any removal of any CA mandated safety device 😏but the mechanism (trigger blocking lever & spring) are held in place by a small diameter pin an inch above the magazine release.

I believe the Truglo sights use .060 rods

The TruGlo green fiber measured .074. The Dawson black inserts are .060 but they fit fine. The pre bulbed end of the black fiber was just a tad larger, a simple tap with a plastic jewelers hammer got it into the recess. I'm satisfied with the result.

I just did dry fire drills with my Glock 19 G3 and my Derya. I have the large white dot TruGlo on my G19, the Derya red front sight is incredibly hard to see in comparison indoors. We have to figure out a way to get bigger, better sights onto the DY9 slide. Anyone know of any hacks or other bigger, brighter sights that might fit the Derya slide?
