I live in the Yuba/Roseville area and was wondering if anybody knows of any gun shops that are currently importing KelTec P3At's or Ruger LCP's via single shot exemption? I'm looking for a .380, something I can stick in my pocket (a true pocket carry). I don't feel like paying ~$800 for a CA approved Kahr P380 and the Bersa's are too big for my taste.

First find an SSE shop near you. Then work with them to get the gun you want. They may need to special order it for you. -
Sacramento Black Rifle in Rocklin can probably hook you up.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

That's where I actually found out what the process was. One of the guys behind the counter was explaining to a couple customers how it works and he filled me in as well. They aren't doing keltec's or rugers (in .380). I was ALMOST going to get a DB 9mm but when I got home did some research and all the reviews I read were terrible. I guess they're only SSEing glocks and DB's.Comment

Not all guns can be SSE'd, so it will depend mostly on the FFL that is performing the SSE and which guns they are able to convert. For more info on SSE, check out this link here.Comment

Read this thread for starters
Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

As this thread evidences, it is far from being that easy. There are very few gunstores that will do SSEs, most of them are away from major population centers, and some of them only do certain guns or brands. SSE rarely is practical and I have never personally met anyone who bought a firearm through SSE.
Just remember that the next time someone posts one of those "No problem, just buy via SSE" comments.

If you want the gun arranging an SSE is not hard for many many popular current models. Just because you find it too high a hurdle does not mean that others do...Every time someone on this forum posts a thread about an off-roster firearm, someone comes on and says the equivalent of "hey, no problem, just do an SSE."

As for "...I have never personally met anyone who bought a firearm through SSE." that just means you are hanging out with the wrong crowd.

I guess you think people should be posting "Nope, not on roster...impossible to get in CA. Sorry." That would make for a really helpful forum...Last edited by keenkeen; 05-21-2012, 12:06 PM."But far more numerous was the herd of such, Who think too little and who talk too much." -John DrydenComment
