    Polymer Gun????

I am looking to add a Polymer Gun (45acp) to my growing family. I had my heart set on a Glock 21 SF, but after perusing all the comment and opinions on this forum, I decided to include the Smith and Wesson MP45 and Springfield XD45 on my short list.

I need your help to decide which of the 3 is the best choice for home defense, conceal carry and possible competition gun.

My experience with the S&W M&P 45 were the front sights would begin to get dirty after shooting 125 to 150 rounds through it at the shooting range. I typically shoot 200 to 300 rounds at the firing range so it bothered me. If you do decide on this gun bring a Q-tip and alcohol with you :-)

I also shoot a Springfield XD45 and have never had that problem with it. Both are good handguns but I prefer the XD over the M&P primarily because it fits my hand better and of course the sights don't fowl.

Rent all three at the RANGE and see how they shoot and fit.

Concealed carry might be better with a smaller platform by the way.

I like my XD 45 compact. The tactical model is even better.

And you prove my point even further. No other firearm I use has had that problem with ANY ammo

I think at when picking between those guns you really can not go wrong. The best bet is to just shoot one of each or at the very least hold one of each. The glock feels no good for me and the M&P fits me like a glove. So i have the M&P. As far as function goes, they are all going to be about the same with small minor differences. There is a ton of videos on youtube comparing the three.

Before you buy the Glock...shoot it. I get slide bite from the ones I've shot. Everyone's hand size and grip is a little different...Just a thought

I went through the same dilema a few months ago. I ended up with the M&P45 and I like it. My main reason for choosing it was that it operates similarly to the 1911s I'm used to (location of safety, etc) which was important to me. The 21sf felt too big for my taste and the XD, while nice, just didn't feel as natural as the M&P. Like someone already said, you really need to shoot them for yourself and see what works for YOU.

One more for the Glock but you pay more.

In 45 I would go with an M&P. Mine shoots really well. On the other hand if it was a 9mm I would go with a Glock.
