        It looks like a tool mark to me...most likely from an endmill durring the manufacturing process if it was produced from a single block of steel.

            I think it is just a tool mark as well. Just a cosmetic flaw. If you are too worried and want to be double quadruple extra sure, SA will send you a shipping label. It is likely more convenient (And cheaper.) to send it back to them than to a gun smith.
