taurus model 82 - with new hogue monogrip...

well i needed a revolver for my DFR S&W revolvers class and found the taurus model 82 to be almost an exact clone of the smith and wesson model 10 or 15 (cant remember which one i was looking at) and was close enough in function to suffice for my class due to the price (reccommended by more than one gunsmith). Its a .38 special with 4" barrel and wood grips that i plan on switching out for some more ergenomic grips.

    now... the wait...

heres some pix of it until i can get some better photos...

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

$395. Dude, hide your phone number. There are some crazies on here, and it's just a smart thing to do.

How is the .38 spec for home defense? My mate had someone attempt to get into his house last night (unsuccessfully) and git me thinking about being at gunsmithing school with so many guns in my house. I could be a target of armed burglary. Woul a .38 special be ideal for a small house? Im moving into a 2 bedroom house in a week and i will be living alone so i want something i can count on in a pinch. Is a .38 going to be a reliable man stopper?

Did you have to do a SSE to purchase that? It's not on the roster. I bought one many years ago and it has been a good, solid revolver. Was thinking about getting another one.

If you get a .38, use +P ammo. .38+P or 9mm are the minimums for HD.

I guess you didn't go that route, then. It's explained in the second sticky at the top of the handguns page. Did your gunshop just have this in stock. Like I said, I would like to get one but since it is not on the roster, I didn't think it could be ordered.

I just noticed that it doesn't have the full barrel underlug which the current models have. That's a lucky find. There are slight differences between the Taurus and the S&W but they are, essentially, a clone. As I said, I have an older one like yours and it has been a solid firearm.

Nice got a titanium taurus 617 (357 snubbie, in which I keep 38 +P for hd), and a taurus pt1911 and they are great guns, now that I have the kins worked out of the 1911., also have and have shot several smith's and minus the trigger being a little rougher the 617 is a great pistol, it has been reliable and good. If the gun is rated for 38 +P, that would be my recommendation for hd, but 38 spc will still stop someone.
