P365 micro questions

I have been looking at purchasing one of these P365 (Nitron) micro, after fingering one at a local shop. After looking up reviews on them, FTE seems to be or has been a problem. Has this been fixed? It seems like the 2018 first models had issues related to FTE, but what about current ones? i went to Discount on Morena to see if they had one to shoot, but they said "it is broken, worn out" and as they are given guns from the Manufacturer, they would not be replacing it. Not a good sign IMO. Can you P365 owners let me know if yours is reliable? As an EDC, I would have to be sure it was 100% reliable, obviously by practice with it. Please let me know your thoughts on the rusty mags, and FTE, and any other issues you have seen. It seems about the same size as a Kahr PM9, but is 10+1, a bonus! Smaller than a G26 too. if you would rather shoot kahr or Glock, get those instead.

whichever you like more, fits in your hand better and you will dry fire regularly is better

I bought a 365 CA edition, there are so many flavors I don't even try to keep track.

Mine is just marked 365, it came with 10 round magazines and the shortest grip they make.

It is really easy to shoot. I have used it in IDPA since June and it's not competitive with the race guns, neither am I.

I did put a wilson grip on it and find it far more easy to shoot fast.

ZERO issues of any kind, no extraction issues. At least 2 other guys on my squad have them and shoot them and they aren't having issues, either.

I agree, shoot what you like, but my G 19 feels like a brick compared to this thing.

I bought mine PPT a few years back after I guy I used to work with upgraded his carry gun to a Wilson Combat P365 xl as his retirement gift to himself. It has had thousands of rounds through it by him and me. I did make a couple of changes after I got it, optics ready slide, XL grip module, and flat trigger. I have had zero issues with it in any configuration.

I have 9 mags for it, 4 for the standard grip frame, and five for the XL. none of them have any hint of rust on them. I carry it daily, and shoot it at least once a month. I am a bit OCD about cleaning, especially mags, since I had a USP 45 mag fail on me in a class.

I just took my new-to-me P365 to the range, fired 80 rounds without a problem. We have a member here with over 25k rounds through his P365 without any issues. Numerous YouTube reviewers have stated these P365s are utterly reliable. A very small number in the very early batch did experience some problems. I believe Sig either remedied the problem or they were production defects. Of course they still require some routine maintenance. One can’t abuse one and still expect perfect performance.

Thanks to all, I want something as small as the Kahr, which is easy to carry, easy to shoot, but with 10+1 and a safety. The G26 seems huge when I compare it to the Kahr. Both shoot fine and are well maintained as any EDC should be!

My interpretation when I read your posts it that it seems like you conceptually understand that p365 is a modern design with modern features like optic cut, changeable grips, and is thinner with more ammo capacity , but you have some type of fear or hesitation based on what you have read on the internet.

so your choices are “keep shooting what you have and trust” or “invest time and money to buy a p365 and 2-3k rd of ammo to see if you can trust it”

it’s your life saving device and the mindset that you trust the gun 100% and have a ton of time behind it , really is the most important.

full disclosure, I carry p320 and p365 and only own 1 Glock (g34) and own no kahr

Thanks, and correct! Don't need to buy something that will eventually proven to be unworthy of being an EDC. Trying to do research before buying anything more. The enemy of good is better! Seeing FTE issues and hearing rentals are "worn out" requires me to dig deeper. Thanks for all the info!

not read much about fte, but there's a good bit out there regarding new guns failing to return to battery. picked up a ca version this past summer and first range trip of approx. 150-200 rounds it exhibited this issue inconsistently with 115 gr fed blazer. next trip i ran 124 gr blazer and maybe one instance iirc. after 500+ rounds no more issues either weight, hst 124 gr +p, one-handed, etc., and runs like a top. honestly i think it's simply nature of small, tight-sprung pistols in general when new. i should mention i ran a romeo-x compact from day one so don't know if added weight may have contributed to needing to 'break in.'

I have the XL and XMacro, no issues. Non CA models.

I got an XL and converted it to xmacro and never had any reliability issues but these guns have small grips and I couldn'd imagine going smaller.

I still wish the grip of the xmacro had more meat behind the backstrap at the web area and the M and L grip inserts are useless for not running up to the top of the beavertail.

Before going to the xmacro I took an xmacro grip and trimmed it to XL length to fit the XL mags but it was just a bit too short. Finding mag base plates to lengthen the XL mags to fit the xmacro was a bit of a pita but eventually found some.

The wilson combat grip sucks for my hands.

The sig xmacro grip is still small imo but it's the best I tried and all the others were a waste of money.

With all those guns you listed, do not ignore the Glock 43x as a possible option as well.
It's thinner than a standard 19 so it has a skinnier slide and grip as well as narrower mags to fit into the narrower frame.
Factory plastic glock mags are 10 rounds.
If you are magazine-law exempt, you can get 15 round fit-flush metal mags for the 43x.

P365 is slightly larger that the pm9. The pm9 trigger is a long stiff pull vs the p365. Not that the sig has a "great" trigger, but it's shorter and lighter. Pm9 has 7 rounds flush while the sig is 10 flush. I can hold my pm9 and squeeze three fingers on the grip, pinky hanging off. The sig gets all of the on there if tightly together.

Edit: the sig feels better in hand and easier to shoot, takes a micro red dot out of the box. I carry both but the sig gets more time on the belt.

Edit edit: the pm9 is a bit finicky when loading a full mag, you must slingshot the slide, not use slide stop, to load first round.

Thanks, great intel! Sounds like I will get one, run a s-ton of rounds thru it and see. I like "the idea" of a thumb safety but will have to see if I can adjust to it.
