    Kimber Rapide

Wasn't really a big fan of the looks of the Kimber Rapide until...I handled one today at the range. Neat gun, great trigger (even with the disconnect), and not badly priced ($1600) for what you get. It was a .45 but the shop said they're looking for the 9mm version. I think my wife will need a 9mm to go with her Kimber Gold Match stainless in .45. Also handled the new K6xs in .38; I think I "need" one. Neat gun for just about $600.

Turners had the Rapide in 9mm, I thought it was too blingy for my taste and there were some thing that I liked, others made me scratch my head. Probably a cool gun to shoot though.

Agree that the Rapide Dawn is a bit 'blingy', but it is one of the few 9mm 1911 platform pistols that are on the roster.
Liking the style of grips and the slide serrations...

I was kinda liking it until I saw the price tag and loaded chamber indicator that and the fact that it's probably a series 80 which is the one thing I dislike about my Raptor 2.

Yeah I saw that and thought Kimber must not want anyone to replace or upgrade these guns. I'd like to take one apart and see what else is one off.

I agree with the bling thing (My wife likes it), but it felt good in the hand and the sights were super easy for my old eyes to see. I already have four 9mm 1911s, so I think I can live without this one. I'd love to pop that mag release out and see how it works.

Browning made a 1911 years ago that had a mag disconnect safety, it was a metal tab on the trigger/bow that pushed up against the mag release blocking its rearwards travel unless a mag was inserted.
It looks like Kimber machined the mag release itself to be the MDM

Saw one in person yesterday, beautiful gun UGLY loaded chamber indicator. I don't think you could do any else to make it worse.

NO. And as 1911whore said the weird mag/ disconnect is why it's shaped that way. My suggestion would be if you buy a Rapide would be at least order an extra mag release and related parts just in case.

Not a fan of the slide lightening holes, but I do really like the small golfball front grip texture. I don’t do stainless 1911s only black or earth tone, so that perticular one would be out.

Looking at this thread it occurred to me that I have not bought a 1911 in a very long time, if I remember right the last 1911 I bought was a Colt M45a1 custom shop that was pre-owned in 16-17. I sold it in 2020-2021 before I moved to AZ.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.
